We are planning our first trip to US/IOA for next week. I was wondering about the rides. I get sick on spinning rides; I really don't even like a Carousel! But on the other hand, I love roller coasters........But I think I'm getting a little too old for more than two or three loops! I've noticed the last coaster I was on, that's about all the loops my head could handle!! What rides should I stay away from? What about the MIB and BTTF? Do they spin or do they jerk much? I don't like a whole lot of jerking around, either.

Thank you!!

Have fun on your trip...based on what you've described, I'd stay away from Dueling Dragons and probably the Hulk (although it's very smooth, but you would have to deal with the loops and drops...I've never been a huge coaster fan, but I love the Hulk). Mummy is more psychological than classic coaster, but it is a bit jerky. MIB is a probably OK, but you do have some spinning and abrubt movements. BTTF is very jerky, but you may be OK. Bottom line on all of this is that everyone reacts differently....

Stay away from the Cat in the Hat, and possibly MIB for spinning issues. Spiderman spins a few times, but it's not bad and you have to go on it anyway :thumbsup2

I love coasters but do get motion sick if I'm not careful. Simulators and spinning rides get me the most. I've been using Hylands motion sickness tablets for a couple of yrs now and oh what a difference they make.
Sincey ou do like coastes, I'd say give Hulk a try and if you are ok on it, try the ice side of DD.
BTTF gets to me the most, oh and of course Storm Force. MIB I have no problems on.
Spiderman can be iffy if I don't take the hylands but I am fine if I take it.

I get motion sick pretty bad. I never heard of Hylands. Can you compare it to dramamine or bonine? I would love to find something that works on me so I can enjoy the rides that usually make me sick (spinning rides). Does it make you sleepy? thanks

BTTF is extremely jerky, I used to love the ride but just cannot do it anymore.

Crazy but the one that really makes me ill is Cat In The Hat, my young son loves it, but I just hate that spinning around - I would definitely avoid it if you can.

WOW...tough one! I am getting the same way I think...spinning gets to me, etc. But...it's hard to know how MUCH you can handle! :confused3 Can you give us an example of coasters you CAN handle and/or like? I ask because as others have said, Hulk is VERY smooth...and yet it has 7 inversions! I have been on WAY worse though and Hulk is not tightly wrapped if you know what I mean!? :rolleyes2 The dragons get a little more so...but I can handle a ride on each...but really don't need much more. Cat in the Hat, it spins...there was a time you could request a non-spinning car, not sure if you still can...but I did notice it's not as bad as it use to be, IMO. Spiderman has an area or two that spins, but to miss that would be VERY sad...and it's a wide vehicle, so it's not too bad. Storm force is out...Now, MIB...if someone hits your exhaust port, your vehicle will spin, but just once or twice at a time, usually...but after you get eaten by the big alien, you DO spin a few times...I hate this and close my eyes, and it's brief. IMO, worth the ride, but I'm pretty competitive! :cool1: I think the idea of taking a motion sickness pill is best, because most the the ones I mentioned are not that bad to begin with, so I'd think you would be fine...spread them out, ya know? BUT...BTTF...I would truly avoid that...it pretty much assaults you! LOL

Not sure if I helped...but I hope you have fun! I know my kids, brother and I went to 6 flags NE one day and my goofy brother decided to take us on the teacup thing 1st and he spun us like nobody's business....like, we were the ones everyone points at and says..."MAN". I was ill ALL day! LOL

Nothing is too crazy though...keep hydrated too...I think that helps!

I get sick on simulator rides. I cannot ride Star Wars, Body Wars, or Mission Space at DW, but I can ride everything else. Can someone tell me what rides at Universal or simulators.

You should stay away from Dueling Dragons, and possibly the Hulk, but you need to ride it anyway. BTTF isn't that jerky if you are on the front row, but if your in the back then you need to hold on!!!

back to the future and jimmy neutron's nicktoon blast at US, spiderman at IOA. my wife can't do star tours or body wars, but she has no problem with spidey or jimmy. it's the older sims that tend to make people queasy. jimmy is set in a large, open room and there's a screen in front of you. spiderman is so immersive, I doubt you'll have time to think about getting sick.

The hylands is all natural/homeopathic. I can Bonine, but bought the hylands since my mother is allergic to the Bonine (she tested positive on a skin test, and had never made a connection between it and some of her skin probems.) The Hylands seems to work better for me.

Another thing that works well for me on the things that really bothers my mother and me (like Star Tours and the simulator at Sea World) is the pinch the piece of skin/lobe at the front of your ear. Its that little piece there in front of the opening into the ear canal. We might look strange but it works great.

Also if you find yourself getting dizzy or nauseas find something stationary to look at. In Spiderman and BTTF you can look at the dash of the ride vehicle.
