I'm hearing about ride lockers. What's the story?
We normally take small backpacks to WDW and can take them on all the rides. Is that not the case at universal?
Do I need to try to be bagless?

Most of the rides are very different at Universal from Disney.

No bags are allowed on most rides, except a three prong waist pack that doesn't interfere with harnesses.

RRR, Dragon Challenge and Hulk don't allow anything at all. There have been a few accidents where people have been hurt by flying objects. That's why these rides now have metal detectors.

No money or objects in pockets, no phones, keys or purses...........the lockers are easy to use and free for the duration of the rides. You will be sent back to put things in lockers if you have anything like that on you.

You can wear your lanyard if you have one, just tuck it in.

Going bagless is a good idea if you can, but lockers are easy to use and not an issue.

Certain rides, including both HP rides among others, require all bags to be put into a free locker. We just did this for the first time last year and it was fairly simple to figure out. Just make sure you remember your locker number. We forgot one time and I was starting to panic when the security guy had to open 3-4 lockers before we got to ours!

If you forget your locker number, there is an option to hit 'forgot number', you then scan your finger (the original one) and it will tell you your locker number :)

This wasn't at the HP lockers. I think it was the Simpsons or Men in Black…I can't remember. But I don't think there was a finger scanner?

Hmmm, every locker I have ever used at IOA/UO has had a finger scanner.

All of the lockers use the same system. There's definitely a finger scanner at HP and you can use "Forgot Locker Number" there :)

It must've just been me then! And I think it was MIB because we went on that twice in a row.

Oh, I am glad I saw this, I was going to try and go bagless, but I would have my phone and money in a pocket then. Thats not ok? Are the lockers in the queue area or immediately outside? I assume I will see it the first time and then it will be obvious, but I am in panic mode currently (we leave on Friday!).

Don't panic......it'll be fine......honest :)

The rides with metal detectors You'll have to leave phone and money in lockers........the lockers are obvious. For example at RRR you walk to the lockers then back through to walk through metal detectors and join the queue.

There are lockers around the rides that don't allow bags. Once there easy to figure out and it tells you how long it's free based on wait time etc. We've never had to pay even if rIde was longer.

So, if I bring the gorilla bag I used a couple of years ago, I'll be able to avoid using lockers except for RRR, Dragon and Hulk (which won't be open anyway ), right?

What's a gorilla bag?

Off to google gorilla bag..........

New one for me.. Lol

I googled it and couldn't find anything that I thought would be allowed on the no bag rides such as MIB, Mummy, FJ, Gringotts unless she is referring to the Kipling Multiple waistbag (which has a little furry gorilla hanging from it) which I own and use on those rides.

Saw that on Amazon
Also saw the small insulate lunch bags that could be used in a park

Saw lots of garbage bags and gorilla glue

Which made me think I need to buy more of the glue next time I'm at Walmart ....

Experienced veterans... would you recommend we carry the bag around the park or stuff it in an all-day locker?

That's what I have too.......a purple one of course........:D

That's the only thing I could think of for a gorilla bag???

What size of a bag are you planning to have and do you need access to it quickly?

The all day lockers are at the entrance to the parks, so if you were at the far end of the park its not so convenient............there are lockers at all rides that don't allow bags if that makes the decision any easier.

Lol - yes, it's a Kipling! I bought it last time I went based on recommendations here. Was allowed to wear it on everything back then. I couldn't remember the name, but figured everyone would know about the little gorilla ....
