Ride chicken needs help!

I admit I'm afraid of heights. I avoid Screamin and TOT and MailBoomer like nobody's business. However, I love the mountains in DL. I must admit that Splash is the scariest for me, because of the height of the drops. If you're expecting something like POTC, you will be unhappy. They may not be taller, but they are steeper and they feel very different and there are three of them! I always get unpleasantly nervous when we are climbing to go on the last drop, but as other people say, it is over quickly and I always think "That wasn't that bad. It was worth it." immediately afterward. I think you should try it once.

I've gone on Splash Mountain many times but not in years. I was always the one frantically looking for an exit as it got toward the last drop (I don't feel the drops inside are a piece of cake either). For some reason the drops inside Pirates don't scare me but wow... I don't know if I could do Splash Mountain again. My general rule is that if it doesn't go upside down, I'll go on it... but not this one. Who knows though... my 5 year old might just talk me into it.

You'll notice that the coaster doesn't speed up until you're well into the first drop. In short, ride as close to the front as possible and you'll have little (or less) to worry about.

My DGF use to look at this and say "NO WAY", once tried it and sat up front, it is now her favorite. We love to ride it when the fireworks are going off, it really is a different experience after dark.

You sound a lot like me..... I'm not big on drops either!!

BUT, I love GRR & POTC..... these don't bother me..... hate to be the bearer of bad news, by Splash is way bigger than those. There are 3 total drops on this ride..... small one in the light, a bigger one in the dark & the huge one everyone walks by. I rode this once & haven't gotten back on it.

That's just my experience...... hopefully others will sound off on this.

Same for me. I ride the others no problem at all..but I rode Splash ONCE and that was it..I hated that drop..and yes..I know I'm a ride wimp, but No Way will I do Splash again.

Wow..as others have said, it is amazing to me that the drops on Pirates and Splash are basically the same. That angle thing must make a H U G E difference....

SM is what? nine minutes long? I hate the drop, and in the dozens of times I have been on it, I have never once seen what that drop looks like. I just close my eyes for 5 seconds.

I am so incredibally afraid of heights, I can barely stand on a step stool. I love splash mountain however! By the time you even think about how high up you are and not to mention how steep the drop is, you are at the bottom. I love this amazing ride!

What we did with my son was to build him up to the scary rides.

We started with the Toontown coaster, we then told if he could ride that he could ride the Matahorn, then we told him if he could ride that then he could ride BTMRR at the front, then if he could ride then he could ride pirates with its dark drops, then if he could cope with that then he could ride Splash and Space. By the end of the holiday he rode everything, he loved cal scream and even rode the ToT ( though only once). He was 9 at the time.
