Ride Breakdown

Anybody been there lately and noticed the rides breaking down alot.Heard that has been happening. Also heard the MK was really crowded today something going on?

The crowds were really really bad last week when we were there, however not one ride broke down while we were there. The only thing I remember is Haunted Mansion and Spaceship Earth stopping for a few minutes while loading handicap people. All the major rides were up and operational the entire time we were there.

I believe it is the "Spring Break" time of the year. That will explain the larger crowds.

Hi. When we were there at the beginning of march my husband and daughter got suck on splash mountain for 1 hour! The ride was down all day and they were escorted off the ride behind the scenes! They received a couple of fast passes as compensation. There was no explanation for the break down.

We haven't had any problems recently. We have noticed it seems that the breakdowns go in cycles with us. We get alot at once and then none for a while.

Last May when we went one of the days they were having some problems at Frontierland with rides breaking down. We tried to ride Splash Mountain earlier during the day, and had to be escorted out when it broke down. Later on, we did get to ride it, but as we were leaving we saw that some major power thing must've been going on in that section because the riverboat stopped, BTMMR, stopped and I think Splash stopped as we left. They weren't having a good day that day.

I use an ECV and sometimes we disabled guests are pulled out of line to board the ride in a more accessibl area. This does NOT mean we are going to the front of the line. Our wait is ofen as long as the regular line if not longer.

Sometimes we need to wait for the HA vehicle. Other times we are waiting because the Disabled guests must be pretty evenly spaced out before boarding an attraction so there is as little interruptions for the "regular able bodied guests" as possible. The CM's don't want to slow down or stop the ride too often during anyone's ride.

Have you ever been on Buzz Lightyear, IASW, Spaceship Earth or the Haunted Mansion, when the ride slowed down or stopped momentary then started up again? The most likely reason it stopped was to enable a Disabled guest to board or disembark from the ride. So next time the ride stops momentary, sit back and enjoy the scenery.

We were in the MK on Feb. 20 this year which I think was President's Day (I'm Canadian ). Anyway, it was very busy and we ran into lots of breakdowns. I was sort of blaming it on the fact that it was so busy. We waited about an hour for Space Mountain and when we finally got to the front tof the line, the ride stopped and the lights came on. It was kind of neat though, I took some pictures of the track with the lights on.

Big Thunder was down for awhile. Buzz Lightyear stopped while we were on it and it cleared our scores. Splash Mountain was slow and the boats kept backing up so we were stopped many times while the boats ahead of us went. It was disappointing, especially since it was my DH's first time and I felt like he missed out on how the rides are supposed to be.

MK was the only park where this was a problem though.

If a ride stops and it restarts without you being evacuated then the ride DID NOT breakdown. If you are not evacuated from the ride then the stop was the result of a guests. It could be the loading of a handicap guests or another guest dropping something onto the track that sets off sensors.

Are you guys sure you weren't there when I was?? It's actually a joke in our family, something always breaks down when I visit. The monorail, Ellens journey, buzz lightyear...etc.

We were there last week and I would not term it "busy". It was normal...we did have to sit on Buzz Lightyear for about 15 minutes, not sure the reason. Hubby got mad because he was stuck at the very end where he couldn't get points and I was stuck where I could play, therefore, now having the family high score (with a * behind it of course! ). Splash Mountain was closed down at least half a day, I think it was Tues. maybe Wed. getting my days all mixed up. up and running the next day though....

I don't see breakdowns as a major problem; but I have been at WDW when there have been breakdowns. I think that anyone who visits the resort often is bound to see a few breakdowns from time to time.

The Haunted Mansion seems to be the most likely attraction to go down. For example, we were at the Magic Kingdom (Dec 13, 2005), when the Haunted Mansion was down for at least three hours in the morning. I can still hear the CM (a nice middle aged lady) becoming a bit upset when I remarked that "this ride seems to break down often."

She replied sternly "This ride breaks down less than any other ride at Walt Disney World!" I could have remarked that I know of at least four other times the ride had been down when I was in the park in the past; but I decided it would no good purpose to tell her that, even though it was quite true.

In the spring of 2005 I was on Splash Mountain when the ride stopped for about 30 minutes. Wouldn't have been so bad except that my log was sitting next to a speaker which was playing non-stop happy music at a loud volumn, while announcements were coming over another speaker explaining what was going on. I could not hear the announcements because of the loud music, and that was a bit unsettling. When I finally exited the ride I remarked to the CM that I thought they should turn the music off when making announcements like that, and he agreeded, and said that he would pass advice on the operators of the ride.

During evening Extra Magic Hours at Epcot, (March 17, 2006) the Test Track broke down, and I left that part of the park before it was restarted; so I don't know if they got it back up and running that evening or not.

I can remember a day several years ago when Peter Pan's Flight was down for several hours.

But these breakdowns, are to be expected given the volumn of traffic the parks experience almost every day of the year. Methinks it's not a major problem at all.

Been there, done it! Which is probably why it's one of my unfavorite rides now.

On the evening of 3/14, we were in Haunted Mansion. We made it past the Stretch Room, and were on the ramp headed to the loading area when the ride went down for about 25 minutes. The Cast Member came back to tell us that they were having "trouble with one particular car", but finally got it up and running.
The worst part was that after the ride went down, they continued to empty the at least 2 more Stretch Room-fuls of people, and the room soon became unbearably hot, stuffy, and smelly.

On my KTTK tour last week we learned that in the MK at least they are moving the centralized computers into the actual ride buildings. As this process is happening (this is why many rides have had short refurbishments over the last few months I suspect there may be more breakdowns as they are moving the computers and getting them in there new positions. Also becuase of this if they need technical help they will need to call IT to come and help.

When we were on Goofy's Rollercoaster last year, it broke down. We were climbing to the top when it stopped. They had people walking the line of the coaster checking things out. I have no idea what was wrong. We ended up rolling back down and starting up two more times before they finally got it working. Then, to compensate us they ran the ride twice in a row and gave us FP tickets that could be used on any ride. That definitely made it worth my while to sit there for a few mintues stuck!
