Snow wise in NH:

Forcast for 1-3...is now about 6.....and has stopped. Roads are actually clear now, but were messy around mid-day.
Heard from my mom who flew to Orlando yesterday for a long weekend...it was 82, but overcast.....oh the injustice!!!!!1

She went to Seaworld today, and had a blast....which is really out of character for her....makes me think I better check out Seaworld next time......

I hope the temps in Orlando stay that way into next week! I'm leaving on Wednesday for a week and can't wait! In all my trips there I've never visited any parks other than those at Disney....do I need to broaden my horizons?

Actually now, I'm a bit more worried about Homeland Security...I was at WDW twice shortly after 9/11, and security had really been stepped up, which made me feel very safe once in the parks....do any of you know if they're still keeping that up or have things loosened up.....as far as I'm concerned....I'd rather take a few more minutes at the gate having them search my fanny pack and camera bag and know once inside that everyone ELSE has been checked out too!!!

We were there in November, and they did check all bags....not a particularly thorough check, but at least a deterent.

That little clippie is really neat, Diane! Thanks! I've loaded it up to my worldzone account - I do imagine it'll make an appearance somewhere! I don't know that I want to give my Mom the boot though!!! :)

Did you get your sound problem resolved, Steph....I thought I saw what looked to be a solution posted on your thread. I'm finishing up a little database to present at Career Day for my Katies Girl Scout Troop. It's looking pretty good!

And I'm trying to finish up the RiddleCon page too!

Geez - Maybe I'll get it done by August!! :teeth:

82 and overcast!!!! Oh my....sounds like heaven to me. :)

LOL @ the initials thing! I think I'll stick to your names most times. It's only when I've got a bunch of smarty pants to give out that I like taking little shortcuts! :)

Now - as long as we're talking virtual stuff - line me up with some nachos, jalapenos, and a cold Corona, would ya'? :)

Am I the only one getting confused between the multiple board posting with this thread and the Riddle Me This thread?

I know, I confuse easily...

BTW, I guess I can be either L4 or L2, since I am a twin and her name is Lorraine, although since I was born first, I guess I would be L1. See how easily the confusion sets in for me?

absolutely OK...
I'm not sure who is cooking nachos tonight....but I'm on beer patrol:

but wouldn't you rather have:

indeed.....it's all MOST confusing.....as far as I'm concerned if I see ANY "L" - that will mean YOU!

I'm trying to make life simpler for the group by posting a "LTM" reminder under my LONGhand posting name, do you think that will help????:D :D

If we thought we wouldn't hear our names on Romper Room before, I'm sure with these initials we have NO chance now!!!!

DS is having his best friend sleep over tonight. His friend brought down some movies for them to watch. Let me say that this boy is very nice, and I like his parents, but we tend to not have the same parenting styles, as you will soon see.
The movie they selected was XXX with Vin Diesel. My ignorance - I should have read the jacket before they put it in. I thought it was just some car chase movie. Anyway, as I am sitting here on the computer, I am watching this movie along with them. The language was borderline offensive, but no "F" word at least. The friend says he watches the movie all of the time with his dad. DS and friend are both 9. Just now, there was a scene where it was apparent what was going to happen between the lead character and a girl. I jumped up and shut the movie off and told them both that this movie was not appropriate for them. I can't believe they let their son watch this type of stuff! What upsets me is that DS is at their house all of the time, and even if I tell him he is not allowed to watch this movie, they might let him watch something else that they feel is ok. I am going to have to tell the friend's mother that my son is not allowed to watch anything other than G or PG movies. He was going to bring down "The Matrix" but his mother told me it is rated R. Who allows their children to watch R movies? She said "It's only violence in it!"
Why are some people like this?? Sorry for the long vent!

Well, Steph - as long as you've got one to spare.....YUMMY!

THANKS!

I've got the nachos - dig in! :)

We are pretty strict with movie guidelines. But I do know that many of my DD's parents are not. We've let them know what we consider appropriate for her viewing - No R movies. Heck - even some of the PG-13 movies walk a pretty fine line, IMO.....

I'm not sure I get letting a 9 year old watch an R movie though.

I did just post on the RMT thread (see - there I go with abbreviations again) anbd then jumped over here! I kinda like it. I know that one of the fun things about the riddle is that each day's thread takes on a little life of its own. I like that. :)

LK...you're not crazy...I wouldn't let my kids watch it either....do you think the parents know what exactly they are watching???

just a thought...

DS11 has gone to bed sick....school is contemplating calling off school for several days next week because so many kids are sick....over 60% of school was absent today....uck..

last of the cakes are in the oven for the dad & lad cake auction tomorrow...DS6 decided on a snowman cake...but he wants it to "stand up".....currently baking cake in all the oven safe bowls I own...LOL

You're definitely NOT crazy.....I'm not sure what people are thinking when they decide to allow their children into inappropriate situations...unfortunately, I think it's more common than not. maybe it's because so many have become desensitized by our "real" fears that ANY fictitious renderings seem harmless? I hate to think it's just disregard for the children's well being.

As far as I am concerned, even if a movie IS rated "R" for violence "only"....is it really necessary to have 9 year olds view that unsupervised? I think we all grow up with sufficient fears in dealing with the reality that LIFE deals us, that we don't need to instill those concerns any sooner than need be....especially for the purposes of entertainment!!!

enough said....you did the right thing....remember....teach your children well! I think that's what you've done this evening!

60%!!!

Oh my! That is just awful! I think maybe a wellness day or two is really in order! I hope your DS feels better after a good night's sleep. :)

yeah.....me too.....State Board of Health is recommending we close down....but only when the teacher call-in is 50%....doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Those nachos sure look wonderful......

Just emptied out the school backpacks and there is this really cute flyer from the PTA....they are sponsoring a "Parent's Night Out" for Valentine's Day (night) from 6-8, you can drop off your preschool-school aged child for $2.00.....snacks are 50 cents..

Talk about a heck of a deal........

We're about 2/3 of the way to our fundraising goal of $40K for a new playground...they are really digging deep now...they ordered the playground set and need to install it....

I'm off to play some card games with DW and DD....:)

(That's Dear Wife and Dear Daughter....;)

Have a good evening all.

Thanks for the brewskie! :)

I'm heading back to the PPT.....will probably pop back later....until then...have a nice night.

Bot those nachos look good. I didn't know you could cook, Bro.

I was getting confused. When you said RMT, I thought RouteManDan, not Riddle Me This.

Don't get me started on movie ratings.

Hi!
DH & I just finished watching the DVD of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" I had seen it at the theatre but he hadn't. I LOVE that movie!!!:D :p :D

Is anyone here or am I alone??????
