Ricoh Theta - 360 Degree Photo on Splash

I recently got the Theta as a tester and took it to WDW on our last trip.

Just posted the first photo with it:

It produces a 360 degree photo with one click. The online result is an interactive image that you can zoom and move around.

Anyone else played with this camera yet?

Yes, I also got one. I have been using it at the racetracks to showcase the entire track, grandstand, parking lots, etc. Its fun to play with. I'm working on how far I can be away from the camera to still activate it with my smart phone so my hand is not always in the picture!

Haven't tried much of the remote stuff - didn't want to leave it unattended in the parks.

I have posted them to Facebook as the events are unfolding so folks can see what is happening real time. The only problem is the local drag racing doesn't fill our 30,000 seat grandstands! Its not good business to show empty grandstands!! We have an event this upcoming weekend at our dirt track that fills the stands and then followed by the grandstand filling NHRA National event. The sad part, I really missed an opportunity at the Indy 500 when I left it charging on my desk at home. I could have stood on the main straight with all the people, the pomp and circumstance and got a great shot. To say I was mad at myself, was an understatement!

Really cool photo and fun concept, although I can't justify the $400 price tag when I can't see myself using it a ton.

Hey Tom!

The price is crazy! Very cool concept though.

I was given a test unit by Ricoh and CNN.com to do some shots at Native American Pow Wows.

But, of course, I took it with me to WDW!

I have a few more shots I'm going to post soon.

Tried it in several places including inside dark rides. Though that the stretching room would be really cool. It does not perform well in low light - which was to be expected.

I got one usable one in It's a Small World. The light level in the white room is about the lowest it can handle.

I want to try it on some more outdoor rides like 7 Dwarves, Everest, etc.

And I really want to try some remote shot-so that I'm not in the photo!

I'm hoping that the price point will come down drastically. It's a fun novelty, but not at that price!
