We will be in WDW in July for my DS 8th birthday and would love to have him do this... Has anyone done it? Since it is first come first serve basis how are the crowds? What would you recommend for arrival time, etc? Thank you so much!
I guess I am asking If there are any strategies I should be aware of?

We were there 10 minutes before they started letting people in the parking lot and were first in line to check in. Rope Drop! My mom did this and she had a blast.
