My BF is a HUGE (and I mean HUGE) NASCAR fan.

The other day, he made me mad cuz he made fun of Walt Disney (I won't repeat what he said). He saw I was mad and said he was, sorry. I replied that he wasn't sorry about what he said, just that I got mad at him. He agreed! I said the only way I'd forgive him is if he takes me to Disney. He said sure, how about October!!

Anyway, it's not official that we are going, but I was thinking that if we did, he would really enjoy the Richard Petty thing. In fact, I'm sure it would be the highlight of his life. And even though he made fun of Walt, I figure he's earned it for taking me to Disney.

My question is, how much does it cost (estimates are fine, I'm just looking for ballpark anyway) and what does it include?

TIA!

You can find more info on it at http://allearsnet.com/btp/petty.htm

Unfortunately, it's not a cheap thing to do. Cheapest thing is to ride in a car, for 3 laps, with a driver for about $95. If you want to drive the car, well your bf, it starts at $349 plus tax.

It's a great time, but it ain't cheap.
Ride alongs are about $85, least expensive "drive yourself" package is about $375.

Do it and he'll love you 4ever. My wife got it for me as a gift for our honeymoon. She had as much fun watching me as I did driving the car!! After taxes it's $400, but it is well worth it. I'm doing it again for the 3rd time, just the rookie experience, but it is worth it. That includes off/on the track instruction, safety demonstration of the car, and 10 laps, 8 hot laps with a warm up in the beginning and a cool down at the end. I felt that it was very safe and recomend a camcorder. Something I wish we had brought, but the wife took some awesome photos. If you search for the Orlando Magic Card, they'll send you a package and the card gives 10% off of RPDE. Good Luck!!:teeth:

My DH got rained out of his RPDE in Feb. :(

He could have rescheduled to our last day but chose not to, instead he took a raincheck and is doing the experience up here at Michigan speedway next month.

A word of warning.... he was scheduled for the 8am class and it was pouring (had been all night and was supposed to rain all day... but didn't) so they outright cancelled for the day. But they told him if the weather is "iffy" and "might clear" they hold the participants there to wait out the weather. The track worker told DH that sometimes people are there all day! It must be in the fine print but we weren't aware of it and were glad it was clear cut that morning. The rain stopped by 9am and we were off to MGM for the day.

The track workers were very nice though, and gave DH a tour of the track and pits in a van then drove him back to our resort! :sunny:

I might do the drive along next trip!

I just paid for this for DH a few weeks ago. Anyhow-- it was the rookie expierence. After tax it was $403.64. It was the highlight of his trip!!!
