If anyone has done the Rhino Rider excursion on the Eastern cruise, could you tell me which time would be better, early (7:45am) or late (1:45pm). If you had a preference which would you take? I want to shop and explore with the kids and then take them back to the ships kids clubs (they are too young for the age limit) so that we adults can go on the excursion. Or, we can do the excursion and then go back to get the kids and shop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a blast!! Do it in the AM, then go back and get the kids and shop. We did it 2 years ago while on island and loved it! Though DH drives like a nut! The waves can be rough, not sure what the ship tour is like, we were out longer than the ship tour and went to Creole Rock, Happy Bay, Friars Bay, and then back. The ride is much better than the snorkeling! Here is a link that shows you a picture of the RHINO!!RHINO RIDERS

Thanks for the info and the website. Sounds like a blast!

I'm signed up to do the Rhino Rider with my 14 year old nephew, but a couple posts I've read have me worried.

1. Is it difficult to get back into the raft after swimming or snorkelling? How do you go about it? Is there a ladder or anything like that?

2. How/where does the passenger hold on? Do you just hug the driver and hope (s)he does not let go of the steering wheel?

3. Do they go so fast that someone might be left behind if they don't keep up to speed?

Thanks for any information you have!!! :earsboy:

Those are great questions. I would love to hear the answers also!

I was able to get back on, but it is tuff, DH had no problem, but I'm overweight and not in the best physical shape!!! The leader will stay with you but if you go too slow, you could run into problems, kind of like a jet ski, if you go real slow, you will flip it! There are three grab handles on each side of the boat to hold on to.

Thanks for the replies, Clarabelle Cow. So how DO you get back in? I have visions of my nephew pulling my arms and some tour guide pushing up my rear-end into that raft! :earseek: I am overweight and out of shape and SO worried I will not get back into that thing! I've even had dreams (nightmares?) about it lately!
