Rhine River - Dinner Dress Code?

Hi everyone! I'm starting a packing list for our Rhine River cruise and was just wondering what most guests wear to dinner? I am planning on bringing dresses and flats for myself, but I'm curious if we need to pack pants/dress shorts and polos for DH and DS16? (DH will always wear polos, but DS16, not so much . . . ) I'm used to things being quite casual in the DCL MDRs, but thought the river cruise dining rooms might expect an elevated dress code? Thank you for your thoughts!

The main dining room on the AmaWaterways ships is pretty casual. Anything you'd wear in the DCL MDRs will certainly be fine for the dinners on these river cruises. In fact, on the Danube River cruise, there were a couple of days where we got back so late we didn't have time to change, and just went to dinner in what we'd worn all day. It was not a problem, and I didn't feel at all out of place.

The only exception to this is there is one dinner included for Adults Only at the Chef's Table restaurant. (Although I don't see any references to it on the ABD website anymore, it's always been included to my knowledge). It's a really lovely tasting menu. As I said, it's included (no upcharge) but you need to choose a night and book it once you're on the ship (the earlier you book, the more choices you have as to date). It's not super fancy, but most folks did dress nicer than in the MDR.

This is great info! Thank you! DS16 will be really happy that he doesn't have to wear a polo every night.

The Chef's Table sounds amazing! I will be sure to pack some nicer clothes for that evening in case it is still offered and we are able to snag a spot - thank you!

You are very welcome! And for the Chef's table, I'm pretty sure that I remember that there are enough seats in the restaurant that everyone on the ship can get a spot to eat there at some point during the week. The only question may be whether or not you can get a night that's good for you or not based on your excursion schedule.

That's great! I will make a note to check on the Chef's Table as soon as we board. I really appreciate how helpful you always are on these boards - you make planning ABDs so much easier - thank you!
