I'm trying to link a dvc rental rez and having each CM that I talk to tell me something different.

We've got 4 nights at BWV. I've added one night at BWV at the beginning of our trip. the exisitin 4 days has dining. We want dining on the new first day too.

A CM said "you have to have the first owner call and get her to drop the dining, link the second rez number to the first and then add dining back to it.

The owner tried to day but a CM said I had to call 1800wdw dine and do iut that way.

Can someone help?

OK, so you are staying all nights on rented points, no nights on cash through regular Disney reservations, right? If any of the nights are cash nights through Disney reservations, the reservations can not be linked.

I think the way it works for linking reservation from multiple owners is that the owner of the 4 nights has to drop dining from that reservation, then the owner of the first night probably needs to call back and link the reservations and add the dining, as I think reservations are linked to the reservation number of the earliest night of the stay. The owner may need to talk to a Member Services supervisor or team leader.

Thanks Chuck. Yes no cash just two rented DVC rez's. Owner number two told me exactly what you said. Owner number one tried to do it and had a CM tell her I had to call wdw dine since "a rez at a separate resort cant be linked. Owner #2 showed the CM my email and he said yes that looks right and then he proceeded to tell hr to have me call wdw dine?

DUH?

I told owner two to call again (and thanked her again and again for the trouble) and if it doesnt get done to request a super.

Really though why can't they just link it? Why the headache? I want dining each night we are there. We're at the same resort in the same room type.

How hard can it be to get into the systemj w.o having to drop dining and then re-add it?

44 Billion Dollar market cap and one can still tell when a CM is a newbee.

While they are working on system enhancements, currently the DVC reservation system and the cash reservation system barely talk to each other. The DDP for DVC was an "add on" into the system, and is still operated by the cash reservation system, so adding dining causes some glitches.

thanks again I get it... dining is a cash gig and dvc has a glitchy issue when adding it in...

Also, your two reservations would have to be identical booking categories in order to be linked. That would be such as Standard, Preferred view or Boardwalk view. :)

My understanding is you'll have to drop the DDP, link the reservations, then add the DDP again. If it were me I'd just create an email the way you think it should be and ask both owners to email it to DVC along with their appropriate info. The body of the email which you can create goes something like this:

I have rented to [Your Name], they also have a reservation with another member under the same name. The inclusive dates of their reservations are [start day] to [departure day]. Their reservation numbers are XXX for [dates] and YYY for [dates]. She would like the DDP on the entire reservation, please link her reservation so it is treated as one stay and then please add the DDP for the entire stay for X people (include all names and ages if not adult).

Your name
address
phone
As noted the reservations must be linkable (all the same view and unit type). Depending on how you intend to use the DDP you may be better off having it for part but not all but then you'd have to check in again and might have to move units which is a hassle. The variable in this case is whether they'll require both members consent to link the reservations and/or to add the DDP. To a degree, a linked reservation between 2 separate members creates a certain amount of shared liability, esp if those members consented to the units being linked.

Thanks Dean. I'll do that. I always feel like I'm imposing on the owners when these issues arise. The nice thing is that everyone associated with DVC (or those that love wdw like all of us) seems to be super nice just like the two women that have booked our trips.

Again, thanks.

Bumping (still confused sorry)

What it sounds like is that you need to have each owner contact MS to cancel the dining plan. Once you know the dining plans are cancelled, then one of the owners has to call back to tell MS to link their reservation to your other reservation. Once linked, they would ask MS to add the dining plan back--since the reservations are now linked, the DDP should be there for all the nights.

Thanks. Will the final night (at BCV) be linkable. the other two rez's are at BWV rooms are all studio

Not until the computer system improvements later this year. For now, it is a completely separate reservation.

As noted, currently no. I think it remains to be seen how the changes will affect such issues as linking reservations and whether it'll be a good or bad thing when it comes to the DDP, etc.
