Rewards cards question?

Hi everyone! I'm thinking about getting a few rewards credit cards soon and I was wondering about something. If I had a Kohl's card (I know its not a rewards card) and let's say I made a purchase with it because of the extra % off that they sometimes run, right after the purchase I know I can pay it off (so no balance). Could I use a rewards card to pay off the balance and still earn the rewards points for the credit card I used to pay it off? And then, of course, I would pay off the rewards card. has anyone tried this and has it worked?

Most cards do not rewards for balance transfers, which is what this would be. You would have to check with the individual card issuer to get a definitive answer but all the ones that I have operate under those conditions.
