Not sure if this is the best place to ask this question, but do any of you have any credit cards where you earn points, etc. towards free airline tickets? I'm looking around for such a card and thought I'd see if anyone had one they particularly liked. I'm considering the Travelocity Mastercard. It only has an annual fee of $29 after the first year and I think a free ticket can be purchased for 20K points.

Thanks for any info!

Just yesterday, I applied for the Southwest card ($59/annual fee). Upon your first purchase, you will receive 8 Rapid Rewards credits. If you transfer a balance, you receive another 8 credits. So without much effort, you can have a free round trip ticket! There are also incentives for booking future travel with the card.

Southwest is the best option for us for non-stop flights to Orlando so the annual fee is worth paying. In addition, it has become difficult to find inexpensive flights for SWA. The lowest published fare from Hartford to Orlando is currently $158 one way!

For years, I've had an AA Mastercard, but American is getting ridiculous with their limitations on using miles. I have approximately 200k miles with them and, believe it or not, have trouble using the miles because of how few seats they make available on their flights.

Time for a change...

I love the Delta Sky Miles American Express Card. I have a platinum personal card and a gold business card. I got 10K for signing up. I get an additional 10K every year that my spending exceeds a certain amount. I get double miles always for gas, groceries, home improvement stores, drug stores, etc. I charge everything. There are time of the year when they offer double miles on everything. Sometimes they offer triple miles. Our family of six has been to Hawaii 4 times. DH and I first class twice. I would not use my miles for trips valued under $500. With good planning we have been able to fly the dates that we have wanted to. I love the fact that I can build miles faster with this card than any other card out there.

I've got the US Air M/C. I got it when they were running a promo where there was no annual fee the first two years.

DH has one as well, we're saving miles for two unrestricted (no capacity control) first class tickets to Hawaii.

I have Capital One Visa Signature card and I earn rewards for every dollar which includes travel miles with any airline carrier. You are charged 80 miles for every dollar of the ticket. So multiply the price of the ticket by 80 and that's how many miles you need. I just used my miles for 1 roundtrip and 1 one way tix to Las Vegas on Southwest. (I had a gc for the other one way tix so I didn't use the miles for it). So I'm going to Vegas for a short trip for free since I got the flights ($99) when they first came out. I use the card for just about everything. Now I have to start using it more so I can get more miles to get free airfare for my Disney trip. :rotfl:

I have been thinking about the SW RR card, but I thought that the 8 points for the balance transfer was based on how much you transfer? Meaning you just can't transfer $100 off of another card and get the 8 points. We are finding ourselves flying more with SW because of the great rates ~ even if it does mean driving 2.5 hours to Baltimore to do so.

I currently have the USAir m/c and I have a lot of miles racked up, but trying to get a flight for 25,000 miles is hard. The times that they give you so fly simply stink! It's gonna end up costing me 50,000 per person to get the flights that I want (which isn't worth it). Now when I am flying without the kids and time doesn't really matter, I don't think cashing in will be a problem.
