Rewarded for waiting on rental car

You guys might be right on waiting until last minute for rental cars. I have been pricing out an 11-day stay, knowing that I will be paying 'per day' after the first week. Outrageous!!

But here's my very quick comparison. Plugged in same day of the week to start and end, just did it starting next week instead of November.

Same class car for all (Impala), no discounts applied, just an apples-to-apples comparison on base rates.

AVIS: June $308.09, November $584.28

DOLLAR: June $238.28, November $456.97

NATIONAL: June $457.36, November $753.91

So I will be biting my nails on it, but it should pay off. In addition, I have time to start digging for those discount codes.

Not sure what time you are going in November but especially if it is near TG, I would reserve now and then keep waiting for a wait drop. This way the class of cars your want won't be gone. Cutting it too close in the past, I have been stuck with the big SUV or having to move to the rinky dink agency. Just my $.02.

Like others have said there is really no reason to wait. You can book now and then rebook if a better price comes along. There have been times where I missed a great deal because I waited.
