Reviving an old idea-the Mini Meet Thread

I was just thinking about some ideas for mini-meets. Last year we had one day where we started with a Fantasyland Meet and rode all the rides, including Dumbo, in Fantasyland. That rolled into the Buzz Lightyear meet, then we headed over to Adventure Land and did an Aladdin ride mini meet. After we rode Aladdin, we had a Dole Whip meet where we all took a break and had Dole Whips! We did little things like this throughout the convention. Wish I could find my lists from last year. But no matter, we'll come up with all new ideas this year. As soon as Pete gives us the details of when we're doing his events, we can start planning our little meets. This is when the fun begins.
So who remember's all meet ideas from last year? Any new ideas for this year??

I remember the DVC Annual Members Meeting mini-meet. Unfortunately, I was the only one who wanted to attend that one.

John, I just had a DUH moment. That's what got me started thinking about mini meets in the first place, only when I started the post, I couldn't remember what I had been thinking!
I'd like to have a DVC meet where I could learn some of the tricks of DVC ownership. The problem last year is that some of the meets were scheduled against other meets. We need to make sure there's only one meet at a time, if we can.
I was also talking to Dayna about maybe having some pin meets where newbie's (or chickens like me who are afraid of the "experts") can get their feet wet and learn how to collect and trade.
These were some of the ideas I had running around in my head, that flew out the minute I sat down at the computer.

You couldn't see it, but my tongue was planted firmly in my cheek when I posted my reply. The annual meeting of the DVC was being held during DIScon 2001, and I decided that it would be my one and only opportunity to see the inner workings of the DVC. Besides, I thought that they might pass out some goodies (as they had in the past). Alas, no goodies. And I missed out on the Thrill Ride tour because of it.

I'm sure that someone can dig up the list of last year's mini meets. Perhaps Patrick could make last year's itinerary available as a reference.

Barb, that Saturday's mini meet schedule worked beautifully, didn't it? That's why I think it would be helpful if we kept all MK mini meets on the same day, and all MGM mini meets on the day, so-on-and-so-forth. Well as much as possible. I know that some meets will have to overlap.

John, wasn't that on Saturday that you attended the DVC meeting? You missed the Fantasyland meet because of it, right? And you caught up with us at the Dole Whip meet....with your can of corn in hand.

Actually, Olga, the thrill ride meet is a mega meet! LOL It took us all day to get through the four parks. From what I heard, the other groups lost a lot of their riders towards the end of the day. Our group lost one, and the rest of us just dragged through the last few rides.

Keep the meets in the parks on one day.

I know this ruins the thrill ride tour, but it sounds like it was too much anyway.

You could just break the thrill ride tour into parts.
Mountains Meet at MK
ToT/RnR meet at MGM (with beer and turkey legs for those that "chicken" out)

etc.

This year, no scavenger hunting will be allowed during the thrill ride tour. If I catch you scavenger hunting, you will have to ride It's a Small World all day long.

Some of the mini-meets can be planned now to get some ideas of interest. Nothing is written in stone and the dates can be made after the official itinerary is posted, which will be soon. There were so many great mini-meets last year, I can't wait for them this year too!
