Sorry to report that we were there 2 days ago (Wed. the 21st) and the ears on Screamin' are already coming down.

See.....

It's true, it's really happening! :sad2:

Last picture (?) of DD9, on the left, with mostly whole ears

FYI the ride was still running. :)

ADDED-See picture first post page 3 for both ears gone.

Because they're adding Mickey's face to the Sun Wheel making it Mickey's Fun Wheel. I think they thought it would be one too many Mickey heads in one area.

You know- I wondered about that. I thought the same thing but I'd rather have the Mickey head on the roller coaster than on the Wheel.

Seriously the stupidist thing ever!! I think switching the Mickey head from CS to the Sun wheel was a waste of money and time. I think Mickey looks way cooler on CS. I am sooooo sad to see it go :(

ITA. I wish they would just put the PP marquee on the Sun Wheel instead of changing CA Screamin'

Those ears made screamin pop! Without them it wont stand out as much. Riding it at night...those blue ears....I'm sad :(

Was Grizzly disconnected from the fast pass system? I read recently that it was added on. :confused3

OMG!!! I was there on Monday and I was freaking out about how the sun is no longer happy. And 2 days later they mess w/ my Mickey?!?
I did know that they were taking him down, but not this soon. Poor Mickey.

I read the same thing recently. On Wed. GRR was closed for rehab. All the water was gone and the workers were working at the bottom of the last drop.

Everytime we go through the loop I always yell "Mickey head!! Mickey head!!" I'm sad I won't yell that anymore. :(

During the Mickey's Trick or Treat party I yelled "Pumpkin Mickey!!". Mehhh...

I must say I'm kind of surprised by this thread. I know that whenever there is a change in the park this board will have a "How Dare They!" contingent and a "Good Riddance" contingent. But for the Mickey head I thought the latter would be far greater.

Getting an actual picture of Mickey Mouse and replacing a what looks like a futuristic silhouette stuck on an "old-fashioned" roller coaster sounds like a great deal to me. Just goes to show what I know.

I dont think it is whether or not that futuristic looking mickey head looks right at the pier...it's just that for those of us who visit DCA very often it is what we are used to and it's a major focal point for the park. I will be fine when they move it. I just think those glowing blue mickey ears made the pier seem fun and "alive" and brought the crowds over at night. I dont think anyone here is honestly mad about it. I personally am just sad they're taking down one set of mickey ears to put up another...think they should have left them there. Just like prettyprincessbelle said, it's neat when you go through the loop. They could have put the new pier logo or whatever on the sun wheel. JMO. I am happy about the DCA changes and wish they'd be done sooner! :goodvibes

My ds1 is going to be devistated when we go back. He was sad when he wasn't tall enough to ride Screamin' (at 3 1/2 years old, LOL!) and keeps talking about the mickey roller coaster. It won't exist (as mickey at least) by the time we get back. :(

I'm bummed about a lot of the changes to California Adventure but I was one of the minority that really liked that park...The best dinner we ever had at disney was sitting out on the deck of ariel's grotto before it was princessed them and watching the sunset and lights come on in the park. I'm kinda bummed about that entire area changing.

I do get that they need to fix it though. I'm just going to wait until they are done to totally make my decision on all that stuff.
