Planet Hollywood~~July 19~~Lunch
It was a rainy Monday morning so we went to Downtown Disney and caught a movie. We saw "I Robot" and thought it was pretty good. Afterwards, we were so close to Planet Hollywood we thought we'd give it a try. With the Dream Maker 7/5 package you receive a voucher which is good for your choice of miniature golf, Leave a Legacy, a poster or $25 certificate for Planet Hollywood. I decided to use the voucher here this afternoon. I believe it was around noon when we entered. Even though it seemed crowded, we got right in. We showed our server the voucher and she seemed less than thrilled that we were using it. The couple next to us (non voucher people) were receiving all kinds of suggestions and attention from our server. We were pretty much ignored. Oh well. We both ordered cheeseburgers and thought they were OK, but not as good as the Sci Fi burgers we had a few days before. Maybe our server just assumed that since we had vouchers we were not interested in coffee or dessert because she never asked. She was pretty strange. She came with the bill and said that somebody else would check us out, but she was still serving the other couple. Then, the "new" server told us that it wasn't true. Our first server would have to check us out. My boyfriend and I just looked at each other confused. I still can't figure out what was going on there. The bill came to $28 and thankfully, we only had to pay $3 with the voucher.

Grand Floridian Cafe~~July 20~~Breakfast
I stayed at GF a few years ago and fell in love with this place. It is elegant, yet casual---a wonderful place to have a quiet breakfast. My boyfriend had the Grand American breakfast with eggs, toast, potatoes and meat. He really liked it. I had the pancakes with bacon. They were very hot, fluffy and fresh. I really do like this place. The service and atmosphere are wonderful. Every table has a single rose on it. Just lovely. Breakfast cost $29.80

Plaza Restaurant~~July 20~~Lunch
We went here on the spur of the moment. It was around 1:00. We did not have PS, but went up to the podium. We were seated in 5 minutes. I must say, this was the surprise of the trip. Lunch was awesome. My boyfriend had the Cheese Steak and he is still talking about it.:D He considered ordering a second one. I had the tuna salad sandwich and it was delicious. If you are looking for a simple, full service lunch in MK, this place is for you. I liked the Victorian style atmosphere of the place too. It fit in nicely at Main Street. For dessert, I had a "Unicycle" sundae, which was one scoop of ice cream, hot fudge and whipped cream. Yummy! My boyfriend had the Brownie sundae with pineapple. It was big, but he managed to finish it off. On a side note, after we ordered, the Mayor of Main Street came in. She was there to welcome the "100th Family of the Day" at the restaurant. We probably just missed being the lucky ones. They received free dessert, a professional picture with the mayor, and a Magical Moments certificate. It was a very nice touch. I don't know if they do this daily, but it really added to the "magic" of the MK. Meal came to $33--very reasonable.
Overall Grade: A+

Thanks for the reveiws. I also enjoy GF Cafe. Susan

We had the exact same experience at Planet Hollywood with voucher last year!!!!:(

Our server got us drinks, got us our orders and that was everything we ever saw of him!!!!!!

Needless to say, he got a lousy tip and while I was waiting by the doors out, I asked the hostess at the desk if Disney Resort Guests with vouchers are less important at this restaurant then paying customers.

He said no not at all, that Disney World provides them with 75 -90 % of the customers...yeah.

So why treat us voucher guests differently?

He also asked if we wanted to speak to a manager...I said at this point it was over and done with and we wouldn't be back again.

Now going back again this year, with the Dream Maker Package and the option, we're still thinking of going back for dinner or lunch at Planet Hollywood, now I'm pondering if we really should.
Maybe this time I will tell them up front that we won't take this rude treatment from them and they might just treat us as normal guests!!

My mom and I went one night to PH on a gift certificate, and she told me that you can NEVER tell the waitstaff that you have one UNTIL the check it brought out, because the service always is HORRID when you have one, esp at PH. She was right, as soon as we presented that sucker with the check, he was nowhere to be found again and was rude to us...

Before becoming a CM, she worked in hospitality and got vouchers often... it was well known in the hospitality industry how the service plummeted when you had them to pay with. For whatever reason.

Sorry you experienced the same thing =(

Thanks for your reviews =) I loved the GF Cafe, as well ;)

I can see I'm not alone in my "voucher prejudice" experience. :D I too, left a less than desirable tip for our "server". I never do that, but we were virtually ignored. She even tried to pawn us off on someone else.
cnids00, I like your idea about stating up front that you expect good service with a voucher. :D

i have not returned to a planet hollywood in several years. we have spent our last $$$ at any of those restaurants world wide.
