I stayed at the AKL for two nights at the end of March before the rest of my family came down for Spring break. These are the reviews for my solo minitrip.
Lunch at Mara:
Bought my Mara mug which paid for itself the first dayt I think. Had an excellent Boma beef sandwich on multigrain bread. It was huge. It was $6.49 and I could have easily shared it if there had been anyone to share with! Had ice tea with it. The Boma beef in this sandwich was more enjoyable than that which I had at Bomas for dinner.
Dinner at Boma:
Waited ten minutes to checkin. The girl at the podium was having trouble with someone's PS and held up everyone for 8-9 minutes until someone else stepped up and started checking in others. Goofy!
I was very disappointed in my meal here. The "hot" dishes were lukewarm at best and I mean each and everyone I tried. The desserts were good though and the salads were really wonderful.
Service was great. My server was Hind and she had a very relaxed and welcoming manner yet was very attentive.
For $24 I think this was way overpriced. Won't be back for dinner.
Had lunch at Spa at Saratoga Springs. The price was included in the package I did. The turkey wrap I ordered was huge and just OK.
Dinner at Jiko's:
My third dinner here and probably the last for a while. I wasn't too hungry so I started with the olive flatbread which we had shared and enjoyed as an appetizer on a previous visit. Having one all by myself I found it to be too salty. I then ordered a tomato and cucumber salad at which point my waiter decided to serve me some bread too. The presentation of the salad was beautiful but the tomatoes were mushy! Their color was beautiful but I don't think there is an excuse for serving tomatoes like that in a restaurant like Jiko.
Other than the weird thing with the bread my server was very good.
Boma for breakfast:
Edsel was my server and he was as great as Hind had been. I enjoyed this meal much more than dinner here. Had an excellent omelet and they serve grapefruit halves which I enjoyed. Enjoyed almost everything I tried and I think at $15.97 it is more fairly priced than dinner.
Last meal on the solo part of my trip was lunch at LTT. I had a salad and the cheese appetizer. Both were good and service was very efficient and friendly. Sandy was my server.
