Are the beds at GF or BWI the same beds they use at moderate resorts? I'm trying to not book at the Swan this trip - but it seems the Swan has better beds then Disney resorts....so I'm wondering about the comfort of the beds at Grand Floridian or Boardwalk. I'm hoping for something with a nice soft mattress topper on a moderately firm mattress and down comforters. Any luck that Disney has "better" beds these days? Thanks! :)

I can't speak for the beds at BWI, but I think the beds at the GF are very comfortable :cloud9:. We've never stayed at the Swan so I can't compare those to the GF, but any of the deluxe resorts that we've stayed at has comfortable beds.....some more comfortable than others, but still nice, IMO. But the best I've found are at the GF and the Poly :).

Ok so I will be the odd nut lol I have stayed at both GF & BWI & prefer the beds at the BWI. Can't compare them to the beds at the Swan as never stayed there :)

The beds at Swan/Dolphin will beat almost any bed. They are the Westin "Heavenly Bed" and are considered some of the most comfortable in the hotel industry. We find the beds at Contemporary to be a close 2nd and then little difference between the BWI and GF. I have not stayed in a moderate so I cannot compare to those, but have stayed in all the deluxes.

Sometimes it seems as though the Disney beds are the most comfortable after a recent rehab. We love GF and prefer over Swan although we would not hesitate to stay there especially when discounts are not offered at Disney Hotels. But honestly the beds would be the one things I would prefer at S&D.

I have a tempurpedic bed at home, so I find almost any bed on vacation uncomfortable; however I LOVED the beds at GF. They were extremely comfortable and I never woke up with a sore back. I cannot say the same about BLT. We were there when the beds were mere weeks old and they were horrible. I wound up sleeping on the pullout half the trip. Its been a few years since I've been to BW but the beds didn't leave an impression good or bad. I really did love the Grands beds though, and their linens didn't give me an allergy attack which is rare!

GF beds seem to be the closest to our bed at home which is a top of the line Beautyrest from years back with a superthick tempurpedic topper on it. BWI bed was comfortable but I think that the GF has it beaten. Worst one of the deluxes I remember was the YC but that has been a few years back. Good luck. We have even travelled with an eggcrate topper so I know how you feel about your comfort! I will say that GF still has bedspreads, no comforters there. If you want plush mattress and comforters you need to check out the Contemporary Resort.

Thank you! Great info :thumbsup2 I may look into Contemporary as well. I'll have to investigate that one though - it was never on my radar :)

There's some great info on this thread, but when I hit the bed at WDW I'm usually so tired I could sleep on a rock;)

I can't speak for the beds at the Grand Floridian since I never stayed there. However I have stayed a few times at the Boardwalk Inn and I thought their beds were very comftorable.

We've stayed at BWI and GF, and I honestly couldn't tell a comfort difference in the mattresses. They were neither so horrible or so fantastic that I noticed. However, I can tell you that prior to our stay at GF, I saw a few reports that mentioned "lumpy mattresses." Well, when we got to our room, one of our beds had a HUGE lump -- to the point that I thought there was something under the covers, like a stuffed animal or something. Nope, it was just the mattress. That said, it didn't affect my sleep at all.

I always have a sore back on hotel mattresses, but not at the GF. One of our beds was really creaky on one side and sounded as if it had been jumped on ALOT and the springs had gone. It was a bit saggy on that side, but surprisingly didn't impact the comfort. Go figure. The bedspreads really grossed me out.

We just got home yesterday from the GF and realized how bad our bed. The bedding and pillows were great. I called housekeeping this morning and they confirmed the info here. We will be ordering a new bed this week.
