We were at WDW from 12/4 through12/13. I have divided the reviews over several posts so as not to make it too long.

cast of characters:
Me- 40ish, try anything
DH- 40ish, meat and potato with some flavor
DS- 7, meat and potato with some flavor

We primarily do breakfast in the room, and then a quick lunch either counter service or from our snack bag. We did some old favorites and tried some new ones.

Saturday-
All Star Movies Food Court– DS had the kid’s chicken and potatoes– generous leg and mashed potatoes, pretty tasty- enough for an adult; chocolate milkshake- thick, made with chocolate ice cream and syrup– good; DH had the buffalo/ spicy chicken sandwich– huge, enough for two (we get this at the AS Resorts all the time– my DH and DS love this); for some reason my DS also had a cheese pizza which was ok, but not that good– decent price, good food with servings big enough to share

Sunday-
Kona Café- We ate at Kona Café before the Christmas party. My DH had an upset stomach, so he didn’t order dessert, which is not typical. DS had the hot dog and a side of mashed potatoes, which he loved. I had the Crab Cakes - pan seared jumbo lump crab cakes with Asian tartar and pineapple relish – which were primarily crab with little filler, very tasty and very filling– there were four of them. I also had Macadamia Mahi Mahi - served with mushroom risotto, baby carrots, lime buerre blanc and crispy fried onions. The mahi was nicely done– flaky and moist, with the topping, which I had could definitely taste, but it did not overwhelm the mahi. The mushroom risotto was delicious, but it had a very earthy taste, which some might find overpowering. I thought the serving was huge and could only finish ½ of it. My husband had the Char Crusted Filet Mignon - mashed yukon gold potatoes, asparagus and a 5-spice mushroom demi glace– which he loved– and he even ate the demi-glace (he never eats the sauce). I was going to try the creme brulee for dessert but the waitress said that if I was a fan of creamy brulee this probably wasn’t what I wanted. Great food and decent service– although the restaurant had very few guests– we had the first PS for the evening– she seemed distracted and didn’t provide refills, etc. very quickly. This was our first visit, and we will try it again. Service, food– A for both.

Monday-
My DS had a footlong hot dog from a stand near Test Track– it was actually quite decent.
Tangierine Café- We like to snack here when we get a chance. I had the Lamb Shawarma Platters - served with hummus, tabbouleh and Tangierine CousCous salad with fresh Moroccan bread– I loved it all, huge serving of lamb, I should have asked for pita bread instead of the roll it was served with. The couscous was flavored with veggies and raisins- yum. Snacks– A.

Coral Reef-- This was our CP package at the Coral Reef. This was another first for us. We arrived early and were promptly seated. We had a seat near the tank and watched the divers and sea life. The waiter was good, he was very interactive, although a bit busy and distracted. My DS had Grilled Chicken Breast and a double serving of mashed potatoes, instead of the green beans- -he loved it. I had the Blue Crab Cake which had a lot of celery in the filling– I am not sure if it was celery pieces or celery root, and some sort of a creamy sauce on top. Although I liked the crab cakes, I think many people would find the celery over powering and be disappointed that there seemed to be more filling than crab in the cakes. I also had the Grilled Mahi Mahi – quite tasty and a very adequately sized serving- definitely more than enough for one, although not as large as the one from Kona Café. Instead of the sides served with the mahi, I opted for the ones served with the catfish– Pepper jack cheese grits, smoked tomato compote, balsamic glaze – a huge portion. I cannot say enough good things about these sides– I devoured them– and would have eaten them every day of the trip. My DH started with the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail-- three shrimp-- very tasty- with a nicely spiced cocktail sauce and wonderful pickled ginger. My DH had the Grilled Filet Mignon - roasted fingerling potatoes, green peppercorn demi-glace - and, of course, he loved it. The steak was perfectly cooked and very tender. My DH had the Chocolate Wave - Warm dark chocolate cake with white chocolate grand marnier center, white chocolate ice cream, dried-cherry compote. What can you say about that– it was heaven. I had the Key lime creme brulee– quite tart and quite creamy, very nicely done. My son had the trio of sorbets– they were delicious. We all gave this an A and would do it again, but it would not be our first choice for a more expensive meal (we love Jiko's) or special occasion meal just because we prefer more ethnic offerings.

You said it!!! The Chocolate Wave is Heaven!!!

Thanks for the reviews. I've always wanted to try the Coral Reef. You convinced me! Next trip and we are there.

Thanks again!

Thanks! Your meal at Kona has my stomach growling. We need to try that next time =)

Thanks for your reviews! The Coral Reef has become one of our new must do places. And that Chocolate Wave is just great!

Kona Cafe is our favorite place for breakfast. Also for a small dinner after the parks close. The service is always great. Last trip we went for 3 meals. Also we are vegetarians and the chef always acomidates us.

Great reviews - can't wait to read the rest! We tried Kona Cafe back in Nov and really enjoyed it. I had the Pan Asian Pasta w/Shrimp, hubby had it with chicken - we both loved it!

Thanks for the great reviews!
