What we do is go to guest services right as we got on the ship and requested an additional wavephone for my DS. There are two in your room (or supposed to be once there was only one and we had to report it). My DW and I both like to have one because we do different things on the ship and need them to coordinate getting our plans sync'd.Thanks for great information... DD- turns 12 on Sail Away Day, she is excited about in/out priviledges. Happy to know counselors guide the tweens. DD is outgoing but initially needs help making friends. Question about wave phone.. last cruise had pager. Does the tween get her own? Is it get for the parents?
You will need to sign an additional form to get the 3rd phone and they go fast.
We found our DS having the phone was very useful to him and he enjoyed it. It gave us the comfort that he could get in touch with us whenever he needed to. He doesn't have a cell phone of his own yet and we are using this experience as a test to see if is mature enough to handle the responsibility of keeping track of his own phone. With two cruises down, he has done a great job.
However, even if you can't get a wavephone, he can call you using any of the courtesy phones on the ship. My DS did that the first time he went to the Edge and it worked out fine.
