Reviews 5/29-6/18 Part 7 & final ;)

6/16 (Wednesday)

Breakfast Cape May Breakfast. We have always enjoyed eating here but this time we were very disappointed in our server. Her name was Kim & right off the bat I didn't feel very welcomed by her. She seemed fine at first but when I asked if my son can have milk instead of OJ she seemed bothered. It did take awhile before my DS got his milk
Later on I asked for a refill on my OJ and she filled it without saying a word, she filled it so sloppy that she spilled some on the table & a little on my son's autograph book without even saying "sorry".
We saw Minnie & Goofy right away. We did not see any other character near us so we ran up to get some food. The lines were a little long, so by the time we got back to our table we had just missed Chip.
We figured we would just get Chip later or mention it to our server.
Well, we were done with our meal & Chip still hadn't came by again. We just mentioned to our server, Kim, that we missed Chip when we were getting something to eat. Her response was "Well, sometimes you can't see all the characters"
I thought to myself, this is a character meal & I am PAYING to see ALL the characters & I am going to see all the characters!
Kim then told us if we really want to see Chip that we should just go up to Chip when he is at another table. Well, that is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves when people allow their children to go up to the characters when they are visiting other tables.
I just politely told Kim that I won't do that & I will just wait until Chip makes his way back over here.
SHe did seemed bothered that we were just waiting but at that point she was such a bad server that I really did not care.
In hindsight I should have talked to the manager but I didn't at that time.
I did not feel welcomed at all.
As far as the food it was fresh & hot like always, the characters were fun....the only downer was the server....

Dinner...Hoop Dee Doo We had a PS for the 7:15 show. Since I am a vegetarian I had mentioned to it when I called to reserve the seating. The Disney Dining Castmember told me he will mark it down on the PS. He never mentioned anything about needing to call HDD again beforehand. So when we got there they did not have my name down as needing a special meal. Our server, Janette was wonderful though. I kept telling her it wasn't her fault (she kept telling me how sorry she was) the Chef did whip up something for me real quick.
We all loved the show & of course the strawberry shortcake

6/17 (Thursday)

Breakfast 1900 Park Fare We had a 9:00am PS for this. Again we were very pleased with this meal, we had a much better server this time around too
Again the food was fresh/hot/plentiful
The characters we saw were Tigger, Pooh, Alice & the Mad Hatter. All we interacting with us alot.
Mary Poppins was in the lobby welcoming everyone in.
A very good way to start out the day

Supper Wolfgang Puck's Cafe at DownTown Disney. We decided to eat here before the Cirque du Soleil show.
The food was good, I had the Spaghettini. It was a little spicy but good.
This is a decent place to eat.

6/18 (Friday) Departure Day

This was our last day at WDW
We decided to have breakfast at Chef Mickey's Great service, great character interaction....but I was disappointed in the food. The eggs looked like they were sitting there for too long & they had a crust on them. I can not stand eggs like that, it grosses me out!
We had a fairly early PS (8:30) so I don't know why they were like that.
I mainly stayed at the fruit bar area after that. If you like bananas & strawberries you have to try the banana/strawberries in sauce they have there. Very GOOD!!!!
The characters we saw were Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip & Dale.

We did stop at the airport and eat before heading off on the plane

We had a wonderful vacation & had fun trying new places to eat & visiting old favorites.

Thanks for all you reviews. It looks like it's the server that really makes or breaks the sit-down meals at WDW. I'm a little afraid we won't get nice ones on our trip after reading about some of yours. Again-lots of good info for me as we are just starting a tentative list of where we might eat on our trip. (can't make PS's until the end of August)

What? Isn't that the point of a character meal? It's a shame that a server can make or break an experience. I've often thought that the server is the most important aspect of a meal. Even if the food is excellent, a rude server seems to put a damper on things. I can't believe she suggested that you go to another table to see Chip. I'm glad you enjoyed the food, though.

Its not too late to let Cape May know about poor service. It would help the next family who goes there if they know Kim needs some more people skills. Thanks for the reviews.

That was what we were thinking too! We never heard of anyone telling us we might not be able to see all the characters.

Yes, it really is true & server can make or break the meal.

I have thought about calling Cape May & talking to the manager about our experience, we just always enjoyed eating there but this time were so disappointed in the service.

Great reviews ~ Thanx for sharing. What is the point in paying the extra $ for a character meal if you don't get to see all of the characters there. You could just as easily save your $ and try and see them in the parks.

It's good to hear of a good experience at Tony's. I've never eaten there, largely because of so many negative reviews.

Sorry you had some bad servers - we have gotten quite a few also. At least most of the time the food was good though!
