Reviewing Itinerary After Trip?

I'm having a pretty lax weekend so I decided to work a bit on the schedule for my trip in September which I just booked this past week. My last trip was last October and I'm trying to piece together my final itinerary for that trip. It was an in-the-middle length wise trip at 4 nights and spending both travel days in the parks. Because I booked through a 3rd party I couldn't edit my hotel reservation so I had to book the 4th night at CSR after 3 nights at POFQ (I don't know why I thought 3 nights was fine in the first place). I felt like I was running in circles trying to get to everything and cram as much in since it was my first WDW trip in 4 years.

I'm not a very "stick to the plan down to the minute" person but I followed in general what I had planned, especially with having FP+. I always try to be flexible if wait times are longer than expected, street entertainment, etc.

Just curious if anyone else takes a hard look at what they did over their last trip? Also, do you keep track of where you go and at what times? I get caught up in the moment so I forget to take photos/videos and if I use Snapchat I don't have timestamps when I export stories.

The only thing we do after a trip is to see what on our 'Must Do' list we didn't do then we put those things at the top of next trips Must do list. The only unfinished business from last Oct was the Tequila flight in Epcot's Mexico. We'll have to do that on our first Thurs or Fri as our adult children and 5 grandkids arrive Sat. and I don't want to be spit-faced when they're there.

I do a trip report so yes I definitely review my past trip while doing that. Figuring what worked, what didn't, what I missed, what I can miss this time...etc.

I use touring plans and the itinerary is saved year to year...
I'm able to tweak what we weren't crazy about, decide what is a "must do" next trip, and then start making notes in my memory on my phone. Also as I come across something or hear of something I want to do, I add it to my notes.
Then when I make my deposit on my next trip I start blocking out my days with parks etc.
So I'm always working off what worked before and what did not.

We film whenever we can during a trip, although not as regularly as I wish we would, once we are home and viewing film footage. When we do film during a WDW trip, I always make sure to have one of the kids give the date each time, so I can keep parks and activities straight afterwards. Also, at the end of every trip, we always wind up at MK, and our last ride is the People Mover. We film a trip "recap" during our People Mover ride. I make sure that I remind someone to state the dates of our trip, someone to sum up the weather, someone to talk about the meals we liked, and I always encourage kids or DH to sum up the pixie dust moments and highlights of the trip.

It's always great to watch all the footage, but the last People Mover ride is the best, because we talk about all the high points of the trip, which helps us look forward to our next trip.

There's just so much to see and do in Epcot, especially during the Food & Wine festival. I also want to do a tequila flight at La Cava this next trip, as it was just wall-to-wall every time I popped my head in last year.

I also setup Touring Plans, but I find myself never checking them off or keeping them in order with what I actually did. I think my problem has been just trying to rush on the days I do have TP. This next trip should be more lenient on the days/times I have TP setup.

What worked for us before we moved here was doing nothing. It would just make the trip linger on and we like vacations ending and getting back into daily mindset.

Last trip I wrote down every single thing we did in the notes app. Thank you for reminding me! I can't wait to re-read it. It probably won't affect our plans for our next trip but it will be fun to compare!

I also read TRs and get other ideas from the forums. I then put info I don't already know or stuff I forgot (oops senior moment) into my phone notes. That's probably the best reason to be on the Dis, there's just a wealth of wonderful Intel!
