I just did a search but didn't pull up any reviews of San Angel Inn for dinner. Has anyone been there lately and liked it? Their dinner menu actually looks very interesting...especially the lamb with cheese rice and mashed beets!

We've never tried it but I'm thinking maybe we will this time around.

Thanks for any reviews,

Deb

DH and I had dinner there last Tuesday. I got the Empanadas de Queso Con Chorizo appetizer and the Pollo a las Rajas entree. DH got the Sopa Azteca (tortilla soup) for an appetizer and the Puntas de Filete en Salsa Guajillo for dinner. The food was good....not WOW what a great meal, but we did enjoy the flavors.

As for the atmosphere....to us it was very loud and they really cram you in. We really felt the tables were too close to each other. It is also very dark...I actually found it a bit hard to read the menu, I moved the candle on the table closer to me to see it better.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 7....DH would give it a 5, he really loves our local Mexican restaurant - so nothing seems to compare to him.

We like San Angel for the atmosphere mostly - the food is good. You'll find a lot of people who disagree though - we ate there a month ago and enjoyed it - we both had a chicken dish - don't ask me what though! :lmao:

We are going in 39 days, and can tell you what I think then. I am hoping that the food is good!

San Angel Inn was the surprise meal of our trip. I almost cancelled a couple of times because of the bad reviews here on the DIS.
We (3 adults) all enjoyed the meal. The atmosphere was great, the food was good (not outstanding, but good), the service was attentive but not hovering, just right. We did not feel it was too dark nor too crowded.
Have a Great Trip.

Our last meal at San Angel Inn wasn't recent, as it's been over a year since we've been to the World. But our dinner there wasn't great - it was decent, but not great. The one great thing we had - the ceviche appetizer - is no longer on the menu, lol. We all loved it.

I can't remember what the kids (teens, not little ones) had, but they thought it was average. I had the mole poblano, which I'd been hoping to try for years, but we previously only ate there for lunch. It was also average. The chicken was a bit dry, and the vegetables under it looked like a frozen mix (it's a bit tough to tell, it's very dimly lit there!) - I did not finish them.

It looks like they've changed the menu quite a bit from our last visit, and hopefully, that means they've upped the quality. I know that we had a CM stop us as we were leaving the park that night, they were doing computer surveys about restaurants in Epcot. Maybe they got enough feedback to make some changes!

We love it! I like the filet with cheese whatever tht is called. The margueritas are great and I love the atmosphere....very relaxing. We are going Jan 26 for my daughter's birthday meal.

I had posted my personal experience on another thread (which I can't seem to find right now), but my general opinion is that it's not really that great. Other than the atmosphere, it was the worst dining experience I had my entire trip. Rude staff, long wait (even with ADR), and food was blah (not to mention the wrong thing when it FINALLY came out). Just my opinion, but avoid this place. Even my friends who are long-time WDW patrons say nay on this one.

We have ate there a few times, but as far as mexican restaurants go I think it was one of the nicer ones we have ate at anywhere. We liked the atmosphere and the food was decent.

We ate there in Sept. It surprised me how tasty it was! I got the filet, my mom got the lamb- we both thought our entrees were very good. Service was a bit slow, and I think it was because we were sat in a section that didn't have a waitress assigned to it yet. (we were in some corner near the restroom, which was sorta a bummer, no 'water' view). But I would go back, based on the food. Note- the kid's quesadilla is SMALL- my daughter is only 3, and it was 1 small sized tortilla folded in half. She's used to about twice that much.

We love it! I just love the Filete Montuleno, it is sooo delicious! We love the atomosphere there as well.

I like it about every 5 years - last time Nov 30h of this year - it was decent - the atmosphere is nice - if you start witth the coffee drink - I think you can really relax - That sucker was strong - Whip

The San Angel Inn at Epcot is one of my favorites. I think the food is terrific. The recipes are authentic and come directly from a family in Mexico. I spoke with one of the servers about this and he told me Mexico City -- the region where the menu comes from -- has the best food. If you go, wait the few extra minutes and get a table by the Rio Del Tiempo attraction.

We enjoy this restaurant so much that we go every year. Last year we were seated at a table right on the Rio Del Tiempo and my son (then 5) loved watching the boats pass.

We live in DC where we have some really wonderful authentic Mexican (not Tex-Mex) restaurants at our disposal. San Angel is authentic Mexican which is why I believe some people do not enjoy it as much. Are all of their dishes memorable? No, but the atmosphere is relaxing and unique and makes this restaurant worth a try.

We ate at the San Angel December 14, and thought the food was the best we had at Disney all week. We loved the tortilla soup and the Mole Poblano. The atmosphere can't be beat. If you think the menu looks good, I think you will probably like it. I agree with runswithscissors that I think a lot of people don't like it because they don't have things like enchiladas, tacos, and burritos. The atmosphere can't be beat.

Went in August. There were a few vegetarian choices, which is more than most restaurants have on their menus, and the margarita was tasty. The atmosphere was okay, but there was a noisy group next to us and we felt so close to them as if we were sitting at their table!

Food was good, although we weren't very hungry since we had a big lunch. I would go back, but it isn't one of my favorites.
