I wish I knew why Citrico's never seems busy. Never more than 1/2 full every previous time we ate there (usually virtually empty), closed on Mon. and Tuesday. My own theory is that's it a "tweener"--not as elegant as it's neighbor V&A, and not as family-oriented (with a view) as Narcoosee's down on the water. So most folks go to the one or the other and by-pass Citrico's completely. Too bad--it's a fine restaurant and among the more "adult friendly" spots in WDW. Pleasant decor and the open kitchen adds to the ambiance. And the prices are in-line with other WDW spots also--for example, the salmon at AP is $28.00, at Flying Fish it's $24.00 and at Citrico's it was $25.00. The Filet at AP is $30.00, at FF it's $31.00 and Citrico's is $32.00. So not terribly different price -wise.

Anyhow-off the soap-box and on to the meal. Our PS were for 6:10 and when we arrived at 6:05 sharp, we were seated immediately. That wasn't difficult because at that time, there was but one other table occupied in the place. I'm pleased to report that by the time we left, Citrico's was just about 1/2 full--a virtual crowd given our past experience.
Our server appeared promptly and was efficient and courteous thru-out the meal. For drinks, Mrs. U decided on the excellent wine pairings offered at Citrico's--$25.00 for 3 wines paired to the various courses. As usual, Uncleromulus was faced with a less-than-spectacular beer list (but at least there WAS a printed list, unlike many other WDW restaurants) and the most adventurous thing I could find was Fischer's LaBelle.
Appetizers were fantastic--Mrs U and I split the Jumbo Lump Crabcake, w/ Dijon Aioli and Spicy Hatissa. Fried hard, the crabcake was pretty good sized and they split it for us in the kitchen before it came to the table. While it wouldn't make me forget the fine Md. crabcakes, this one came as close as any we've had at WDW. No Old Bay or anything, but tasty and very identifiable lump crabmeat.
We next split the Warm Goat Cheese Salad as our second appetizer, and with the marinated tomatoes it came with, an excellent choice.
For entree's, I had that Honey and paprika Pork Loin. Excellent piece of meat, almost fork tender and with the definite taste of both the Honey and the paprika. YUM!! Mrs. U was on the lookout for that excellent Cod filet she had last time at Citrico's, but it's now off the menu. So she decided on the Roasted halibut w/ Tomato and Zucchini tart. Another good choice.
Citrico's has a seperate dessert menu and from that Mrs. U had the Tropical Fruit Creme Brulee, while I got Lemon Cheese cake w/ fresh berries. Both were somewhat "light" desserts and a perfect finish to our meal. Should note that during dessert Mrs. U remarked to our server that the dessert wine she had was quite good. He told her he had another dessert wine that was his personal favorite, whereupon he went, got that bottle, and poured her a second dessert wine! Nice touch--and she actually liked the second one even better than the first. It was La Familglia
Mondavia Muscato Bianco--in case anyone is interested.
So-another fine meal at Citrico's. Do go, and help Uncleromulus keep Citrico's off the WDW restaurant "endangered species" list.
Oh--one more thing--we had WARM sourdough bread that nite!!

Thank you for the great review!!!!!!!!!!!! My husband and I along with our 28 year old son (who loves good food) dined at Citricos this past January. I would have to say it is now one of our favorite dining places. Out of all the places we dined at on our trip our son rated Citricos as his favorite.

For me, this review makes my decision! Citicos is on my itinerary for our October trip! Thanks! :)

BTW, I love each and every detail you provided!

the meal. I went there once and had the worst service in all of the world! Unfortunately the server could not understand why 2 guys would be having dinner together. And made her concerns very visible.

Sounds like another great dinner. My daughter always raves about the presentation of the dishes at Citricos.

We had Christmas Eve dinner there this year and it was packed even as a thunderstorm raged outside. Most times though it has been relatively empty although we tend to dine early. I think besides being a 'tweener, it is a very large restaurant. I also think the menu is fairly short and that may dissuade some folks.

Thanks for another detailed review. Eagerly awaiting V&A!

We have a PS for our last night at WDW and plan to take our 14 and 8 year old DS's. They love to eat out at fancy restaraunts and have adventurous palates. Of course, I do have a table that will seat 2 to 4, so if they decide they would rather stay at our hotel and have pizza, that would be okay with us, too.

Your review has really made me look forward to this meal!

We also enjoyed our dinner at Citricos when we were there. We had a diverse group with some picky eaters (picky about quality, not picky about what to eat) and everyone was more than the satisfied. The desserts in particular were beautiful to look at as well as tasty to eat. It was very quiet the night we were there, and maybe 3/4 full. I would definitely go back again, but I haven't tried Narcoosee's yet, so that might be my next "new" restaurant.

Thanks for the great review, Uncleromulus!

Citricos is one of our favorites also!

Neither time we've eaten here was it busy. Even though there wasn't many diners - they did make an effort to seat the families and couples sans children a fair distance apart. The children dining during the times we were there seemed to really enjoy themselves and were extremely well behaved. Maybe its the quiet, relaxed yet classy atmosphere.

I have recommended Citricos to friends and family who have or will visit WDW. I thinks it's a great place to have a nice early dinner before heading over to MK for the evening.

Uncleromulus, are you a food critic in your everyday life? If not, you really should be. Your reviews are much better than most of the newspaper reviews I read in our local papers (Seattle/Tacoma area).

Thanks!! But no such luck. Uncleromulus is just a retired U.S. Probation Officer who's major form of "entertainment" these days is going out to dinner. (and who's dogs continue to get him up at 4:45 AM, when he does most of his Disney posts and it's kinda hard for him to think clearly!!)

Hi,

For our next trip to Disney, I have painfully decided to skip Narcoossees and try something new....Citricos. I love Narcoossees and it pains me, but I am trying to force myself to try new restaurants. This leads me to my question. What kind of View is there at Citricos? I have a reservation there at 5:30 and I know I will be pleased with the meal, how about the view???

Thank you,

Thank you for the very helpful review! We were looking for a 'first night, no park ticket needed' restaurant and Citricos definitely will fit the bill. Is it possible to see the Magic Kingdom fireworks from this restaurant?

Thanks again for the detailed review.

:p

I think you've just pushed me over the edge to book this for our anniversary trip. DW is a real meat and potatoes person, but I think she'll find something she'll enjoy. Just to be at a nice WDW restaurant that isn't wall-to-wall people will be a nice change of pace. Thanks for the review:D

We'll be dining at Citrico's for the first time next week.
Thanks to your informative reviews, Uncleromulus.

Have you ever had the veal shank there?
I think we'll go for the wine pairing too. Could we request the
La Familglia Mondavia Muscato Bianco?

We are looking forward to our dinner at Citrico's!
Thanks so much!

Oh, our DU agent said he requested a window seat so we can view the fireworks from there. I didn't think you could really see them from there. Would it be better to finish dinner before the fireworks and go out on the beach, or somewhere else, to watch them?

Thank again!

Yes. I had the veal shank a few trips ago. It's their "signature" dish and very good!!
Don't see why you couldn't ask for that particular dessert wine--.
And the beach (or, the porch at Narcoossee's) is probably a better area to REALLY see and enjoy the fireworks. You'll be able to "see" them from a few tables at Citrico's, but not really well. A great view isn't one of the features of Citrico's

We ate at Citrico's last November and really enjoyed it :D We could also see fireworks from the window a lovely surprise for us.

Great review! Dinner sounded wonderful. :) The tropical creme brulee *is* great...I'm getting hungry remembering how good it was!

Uncleromulus, thanks for the great review! sure makes me want to go back to Citricos! I haven't been there in a couple of years!
(mostly because we have been staying at Epcot reosrts)
when we stayed at the GF all the time, we went to Citricos practically every trip!

thanks again!!!!

Laura :)

Thanks for the great review, and for keeping us all aware of this restaurant.
(Perhaps they just have too much seating?!)
