WE stayed at Cypress Pointe May 26th thru 31 on a $79 a night deal from Hotel Kingdom. We were very pleased. We decided to go wiht the "resort" and not the Grande Villas because from what we read the only difference was age of the properties and the bath in the master bathroom. Well, the villa was very clean and in excellent condition and as far as the tub goes, it was big and had jets so don't know what we were missing! We also went with the resort instead of the Grand Villas side because the Volcano pool is on that side and it looked more fun. We had a great location because we could walk to the pool easily, but didn't hear any noise from it. And we were on the first floor which I love cause I don't want to get two tired toddlers up the stairs after a day in the parks.

The kitchen was very well equipped and came with a good starter supply of dishwasher detergent etc--even a one load box of Tide which was very handy. Extra supplies were available int he little shop. ( did buy more Tide--99cents--as I love to come home with clean clothes.) We were provided a restaurant style highchair and a pack and play style crib at no extra charge.

We really enjoyed the pool. EVen when it's crowded, it's big enough that it didn't seem too crazy. My DD, 6 did try out the slides into the water a few times, but they were REALLY fast and she gave up after she wiped out each time. I have to say that the kiddie pool looked pretty icky and I wouldn't let me two little guys play in it. You can bring floating toys into the pool, so they all liked that. We also really enjoyed using the playground over on the grand villas side. Very nice and SHADED!

As far as location, it's hard to beat. Litereally two minutes from the grocery store, several restaurants etc and just a hop skip and a jump to DD. We usually went down to 4 to getto the parks instead of through Downtown Disney as it seemed shorter to us--maybe just cause that is the way we are used to going and so we were comfortable with it.

Anyway, we enjoyed our stay--the only possible complaints were there was quite a bit of peeling paint in the entry area of our villa and I am glad that no one was in the studio with the connecting door to our two bedroom. YOu could see light coming under the door in the day, so to me it didn't seem very private. Oh, and the kids bedroom didn't have any windows which felt weird but wasn't a problem. If you have little ones, you might want to bring a nightlight.

Please feel free to ask any questions. (For comparison, we have stayed at Vistana, Vistana Villages, and Westgate Vacation Villas)

So,

How would you compare Cypress with the Vistanas as far as size of the villas?

The rate you got certainly was a great one!

Thanks for posting your great report on Cypress Pointe. We're staying at CP Grand Villas in a few weeks and I love to hear about this place. I'm so glad you were happy with it. Was it just off of 535 past the Sheraton Safari area? We stayed there last year so I know how close it was. Again, thanks for your report.

Herc,
Well, it seems to me that the older areas of Vistana are roomier than Cascades. (We have stayed in Fountains and Springs.) Compared to Cascades, CP seemed roomier, but compared to the other two sections I would say very similar but we liked the layout of Vistana better--just personal preference. However, the second bedroom in CP is quite small. Two twin beds on each wall with an angled corner table. Not as much drawer space either.

Lizzytish,
If you keep going up 535 but don't take the left at the light where 535 turns, go to the next light and make a right and the resort is right down there on the left. If you know where Steak and Shake, Giordano's and Country Inn and Suites is, it is right there. Blue Tree resort is also right down that same road.
Happy to help!

Disneymom3 -

I know just where you are talking about and I kind of thought CPGV was in that general area. I'm really looking forward to having the room of a 2 bed/2 bath and especially having the washer/dryer (definitely needed in July!!).

Thanks to all ---

disneymom3, did you happen to notice if there was a blender in the kitchen? We are staying in the Grand Villas in a few weeks, and I'm sure the urge to mix up some tropical drinks or smoothies for the kids might strike. :)

Also, the pool - can you give me an idea of how deep the water is at its highest and lowest?

Thanks so much for your review!

Thanks for the info, Disneymom3.

I am traveling with my adult children (l9 and 22) and I need lots of space in the bedrooms for them!

So, it sounds like Vistana has roomier bedrooms.

Well, when the times comes to set a vacation date, cost will be a big factor too. Vistana is usally higher priced than CP.

Thanks for posting your review of CP resort as I am arriving next Friday for 11 nights. I, too, booked my room through hotel kingdom. I am getting worried about my reservation. I received my email confirmation from Hotel Kingdom when I booked. But, I recently called Cypress to confirm my reservation and they don't have a reservation for 11 nights...only 6. I called Hotel Kingdom and they said they would fix it...don't worry, etc.....I asked if I could call Cypress back today and confirm the correction and was told yes. I called Cypress and the man at the front desk, again, gave me the erroneous reservation info. I told him that it was wrong and then he said "oh, I see your reservation, don't worry, we have it". I wasn't convinced (sounded like the old "brush off")and I asked him for the confirmation number....that is when he gave me the conf # and, again, stated that it was for 6 nights. How does that translate to "we have it" "you're okay" when he knew i was coming in for 11 nights? Now I am frustrated. I have been emailing and calling Hotel Kingdom to get the confirmation and straighten out these details for a week and have trouble getting someone to OWN this issue and express a sense of urgency. I am arriving in 1 week and can't deal with generalities and people teling me that I'm "all set" when I am not. Has anyone experienced this? Should I be worried?

Hmmm, blender--I think so, but I will double check with my DH this evening and et you know for sure.

Herc, I think your older kids would definitely be more comfortable at Vistana. My kids are little and didn't notice that their bedroom seemed like kind of a hole in the wall but I think that a 19 and 22 year old would prefer the nicer room at Vistana. Keep your eye on skyauction and the TUG board as Vistana comes up on each of those sometimes and if your dates are at all flexible that would be a good way to go.

The pool starts out with a fairly big stair area--enough room for toddlers to play on--and goes to about three feet deep right there. Then it gradually gets deeper, the wall says 5'6" in the middle, but I could walk through on my tiptoes and I am about 5'7". Then it gets shallower again at the other end by the slides, on the other side of the volcano. Don't remember exactly what the depth was but my oldest who is 48" could touch and my middle guy who is 39" could not.

As far as hotelkingdom goes, maybe it's because the last 5 days of your stay are over two weeks away. I know I have been told by them that the resort won't have the record of your stay until two weeks ahead. That doesn't make a lot of sense for a continuous stay though. Have you asked to talk to a supervisor. I find the customer service to be quite good with hotel kingdom, but sometimes it gets a little spotty--maybe someone new or just not as dedicated. I would cal a supervisor, the prospect of being in Orlando with nowhere to stay, or a much bigger bill than you planned on is very stressful! As CP is a prepay resort with HK, did they charge you the full amount or only for 6 days?

I know some people talk about not wanting to do laundry on vacation, but I love the convenience of it. We went to Cocoa beach and then that evening the kids wanted to swim. Without the washer dryer their suits would have still been wet if not sandy. Plus with two really little guys, you never know how quickly they are going to run through the clothes you brought!

Thanks for your reply about HK and my reservation. What you sid makes sense about the 2 weeks out thing....I have heard that. So, I guess I shouldn't worry...the DO show me checking in on the right day and the room size is right....so, once I'm there, I am NOT leaving until my stay is over (since I have the confirmation email to validate my reservations). It just makes me nervous when people seem less concerned than me. I will say that HK was very good about locating this availability for me and I am very happy with their rates, etc. I am just more used to a more aggressive style of service and having things firmly set. I'll just relax and take the "no problem, Mon" approach. I'm sure it will be fine.

Did you use Cypress Pointe transportation? How good is it? Does it run every 1/2 - 1 hour, or just at certain times of the day? Do you have to make reservations ahead of time. We are a family of 7 with my parents, and always rely quite a bit on on-site transportation. Thanks!

Sorry, no idea about transportation. We drive down so always have our own car.

FiestaFan my cousins are owners at CP and we've been staying there nearly every year for the past 9 years and I really don't think there is any transportation to the parks. We just returned home from CP this past April and I don't ever remember seeing any busses etc.:D

We absulutely loved CPGV,i cannot speak for the other parts of the resort though. We are DVC memebers and stayed at CPGV before checking in at OKW last year and we loved it there.we will definetaly be staying there again.we had a 2 bedroom and my mom and aunt stayed in the 2nd bedroom and they thought there was plenty of room in it.

Thanks for the information about bus transportation. We will be traveling with my parents and ease of transportation is always a big issue with us.
