Stayed at BH 1/29/10 to 2/26/10 - Very nice resort - one bedroom w/bunk beds in hall. Clean, very well equipped, nice kitchen with granite counter tops beautiful view of Lake Bryan - beautiful sunrises - saw the shuttle launch from my balcony. Great location - (entrance is across street from Sheraton Vistana on 535) free shuttle to transportation/ticket ctr WDW - Universal/Sea World. Friendly, helpful staff, concierge service, Walgreens, restaurants within easy walking distance. Felt secure with keycard access to elevators. Usually stay on site at DVC resorts - thoroughly enjoyed my stay here! Definitely will come back!!:thumbsup2

We are headed there this week and I have been second guessing myself as to whether it was a good choice! A couple of questions?

Is there a supermarket in the same area, like close enough to walk to? The website says that there is, but I was unsure as to what store it was and exactly how far?

How did you like the shuttles? We won't have a vehicle and were planning to take the shuttles to the parks and then maybe take cabs back if the times are not convenient enough. Did they have a lot of stops or just go straight there? Many times available?

Thanks for your review!

There is a little market that is practically on site - but it is very expensive!! I only used it once. The Walgreen's drugstore is across the street and they have quite a bit of food items.

There are several restaurants within a short walking distance - Bahama Breeze is excellent - Golden Corral is near there - Chick Fil A and Wendy's are right across the street. Crossroads shopping center is about 20 minutes walking distance - many restaurants and Goodings grocery are located within Crossroads.

The shuttle had two pick-ups in the morning and two return trips in the pm - one was around 5:00ish and one around 9:30. Downtown Disney is about 1/2 hour walking distance.

Unfortunately I sprained my ankle and was not able to go to the parks. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Blue Heron again. I love the location! Staff was very nice. I talked with Brenda at the front desk and she is very helpful if you have questions.:thumbsup2

Is there an entrance/exit onto the side street. We will be driving and am concerned with all the traffic on 535 getting in and out of the complex.

I'm not sure what you mean by side street. Entrance to BH is on 535. Going west or making a left turn into the resort on 535, there's a left turn lane for BH. Leaving, you can only turn right onto 535. At various times, the traffic was heavy, but still wasn't too bad. Worst traffic was going east from BH - quite a back-up to get on I-4 - stay out of left hand lane. Otherwise not bad at all.

It's an easy walk to the strip centers connected to BH - Starbucks, Cici's pizza, little supermarket. Any other questions, let me know. I'm sold on Blue Heron!
I usually stay on site at DVC resorts so this was new to me.:goodvibes

I was referring to the street that has a light, just before you would turn into the Blue Heron. I think it's called Vineland something. If you were able to get onto that street it would certainly be easier getting in and out of complex.
Having said that we are just 2 seniors and blue heron seems just the right size for us. We have stayed at Windsor Hills several times, so we thought it might be nice to try somewhere else.

Thanks for clarifying. Unfortunately turning on Vineland will not give you access to Blue Heron. I'm a senior also and try to avoid left turns into traffic without a light but there is a left turn-off lane just for BH and it wasn't too bad. I was at Blue Heron for almost the whole month of February and the traffic wasn't too bad. Leaving BH, you can only turn right onto 535. I've only stayed at Disney resorts so this was my first time to stay in a condo style unit. I was pleased with BH. There seemed to be maintenance staff around all the time. I enjoyed the view - beautiful sunrises. :goodvibes
