Major dilemma! I cannot decide which officiant to use, and my wedding is in less than 3 months! I like both of them just from reading up about them, but I am still confused. It is really important to me that we have the right person. I just want someone with a personality who is going to let us know in detail what will happen and also who can perform as close to a Catholic ceremony as possible. I have checked and they are both free on the day of my wedding. Also, anyone who has used either of these officiants in the past, what were their fees? Sad but true, but if there is a price difference that may help me decide as DF and I are broke. :rotfl:

We used Kevin Knox and really liked him. It was a $50 deposit plus $175 at the event. When we contacted him he sent us a long document with tons of ceremony options/ideas and that really helped us figure out what to do!

I'll second the vote for Rev. Kevin.

He did our ceremony perfectly.

I can't help on prices since our wedding was so long ago it was still included in Disney's package! lol

We used Rev Herring and were completely satisfied. We emailed back and forth with ceremony requests and recommendations. He included everything in the ceremony I requested and even made sure the information on my programs was in the correct order.

You will still need to have a Catholic ceremony or blessing in the church, so I personally wouldn't try to have your DFTW ceremony necessarily "match" the Catholic one, but that's just my opinion. I am also Catholic.

Thanks for your all the info, ladies!

I know, we are going to be blessed by the Church when we get back, but we were both raised Catholic, I attended Catholic school all my life, and I would feel like I wasn't really married if I did not have as close to a Catholic ceremony as I possibly could. It's something that I personally need. I am not very religious, but this is something that I feel strongly about as I already feel bad enough that when we do get married, it isn't going to be recognized by the church right away.

I'm getting married in July, and have booked Rev. Knox - based on the recommendations on this site.
So far his wife has been great to deal with and they answer any questions within a couple of days.
He took a $50 deposit from us two weeks ago, and we still owe him $200 on the day of.
Like was already mentioned, he sent through a huge package of all different pieces of a ceremony and then we look through it and decide what we want included and what we don't. This way you can keep in all the religous readings and blessings that others who are having a non-denominational wedding would have him take out.
Hopefully he is great on our wedding day :goodvibes

We're getting married in May and Rev. Herring is doing our service. His fee is $200 without a rehearsal and $300 with a rehearsal with $100 deposit. We met him last week at our planning session and I absolutely adored him. Very personable, very easy to talk to. He also has experience doing the Catholic Wedding outside of Mass (he specifies that on the information packet he sends out).

The great news is you can't go wrong either way. I believe both are fantastic officiants. :thumbsup2

We decided on Rev. Herring. He seems more experienced and I have not heard one single bad thing about him! Thanks, ladies! :thumbsup2
