We got one of those plastic reusable mugs at Port Orleans in 1997. My husband insists on bring it with us to Cornado Spring in September he said he is allowed to use it forever for free refills - Is he right????

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

It is purchase for the length of stay, not length of life.

ALSO, each resort has their own mug.....spring for the extra $$$ and get a new one.

Thanks - I thought it sounded a little crazy but he swore the last time we were there people had mugs that had hardly any printing left on them that they brought from home and he said some guy told him so. Glad I don't have to pack that old thing!

I have no doubt your dh is recalling that correctly. The official rule is that the mug is valid for free refills during that stay only. The fact is you'll see people with any number of different cups and mugs filling their drinks for free. I noticed old Pop mugs, all star mugs and blizzard beach mugs on our last trip in addition to the plastic cups from the rooms, baby bottles and cups purchased from the gift shop. I'm sure a person or two clucked their tongue when they watched me refill my plastic hiking bottle with ICE only

We were told by a cast member that the original refillable mugs were intended to use every trip. We always by the mugs because they are a good deal. However last trip in2006 we saw people using the same old ones we had at home. We asked a cm and he explained that the original mugs were considered life time mugs and supposedly the newer ones state that they are for time of stay only. I can't believe people wouldn't just buy new mugs and be fair to others. It is a great deal!

When the mugs first came out you were able to use them for future visits, in the last few years that has changed. You now have to buy one for each visit. It is still worth the money, after 3 or 4 drinks the cost of the mugs are paid for. So after the first day you are basically getting free drinks.

We buy (or not buy if only staying a few days) mugs at each resort. We have old WL mugs that were bought in 2001 that were Grandfathered in to bring back forever.
We have PO mugs, BC mugs, BW mugs and will be buying an AKL mug this August.
Nope I/we dont use other resort mugs at a different resort.

hey if he was sold mugs with the express knowlege that they were refillable anywhere he goes for life than he should be able to continue to use those mugs.

Using them without being questioned and argued with at every turn would be another issue, most likely not worth the headache of explanations given.

However, if that's the case, they sold it to you like that then they cant take it back. It would be as if i bought a washer with a life time warranty but when i ask for a repair they said they stopped issuing those last year so now mine is null. No Kosher.

Sorry, that's not the case. Indefinite duration offers can be time-limited at any time, by posting the limit, as Disney has now done. I'm sorry, but none of the refillable mugs were grandfathered.

that doesnt make sense. How can an indefinite duration be changed to time limited after the purchase was made with the understanding it would be indefinite. Its either forever..or its not. How can disney tell someone its good for life then take it back?

I really dont have much to care about either way, as i dont have a cup, lol, but it strikes me back as almost indiangiverish that they wouldnt honor a previous promise associated with a purchase.

So..basically all those old park passes from 5 yrs ago that say NO EXPIRATION DATE...if no expiration date was suddenly changed to, all passes must be used with in 2 yrs of purchase, would those older passes now be null in void? Seems to me its the same senario?

Oh well....just buy new mugs

Disney can do this because you are on private property. They can say one thing and then revoke that statement at a later date. They can do this on a whim. It's private property. I'm also guessing that there was no written/signed/authorized contract between the purchasers of these "good for life mugs" and Disney.

Same goes for Non-expiring tickets. If you read the fine print, it says the tickets may be revoked by Disney at any time.

When we bought our first refillable mugs in 1997, there were signs posted saying they were good for the duration of that trip only. And I know I have seen those same signs ever since. I think a few CMs decided it was easier to tell people to go ahead and fill them up rather than confront the guest. Plus the guest would think the CM was really nice.

Actually, when we bought our mugs in 1998 at POR (then Dixie Landings) there was a sign saying that they were reusable mugs with LIFETIME refills. We took them back in 2000 and they put stickers on them and we reused them. I will take them back on this trip and if there is an issue with them, then I will just buy new ones, no problem. But I do agree, if they were sold with the intent of being LIFETIME, then they should honor that. I will just ask politely and if there is an issue, I can quit storing them!

I actually had someone YELL at me when I filled up the babies' sippy cups with ICE at the resort. No matter I had a bottle of apple juice that I was buying sitting on the tray in front of me.

I was like.....cripes lady...settle down....deep breaths....just ice.

We buy new mugs if we want the refill deal. Last couple trips at SSR though, we didn't bother. Made coffee in the room and brought our case of Pepsi.

jeepers some people have no life but to make others miserable. Honestly if i saw someone filling up a sippy cup with soda, i wouldnt say anything...i might roll an eye, but YELL! nope, not that confrontational lol.

The whole refillable cup thing is kinda funny to me actually. I know not all plan on ordering food, but we are. Were ordering all our breakfast stuff and snacks and milk, 2 cases of bottled water and 2 cases of soft drinks. I figure..really..how much will i be at the resort anyway to want to trapse down to the food court (long walk) to refill anyway. Maybe at the pools (does POR have a pool bar to refill cokes ??) I figure we'll just drink what we have

"Indefinite" is not "forever". Originally, Disney had an indefinite time-limit on the mugs. In cases of indefinite-term offers, Florida law (672.309) is very explicit: "Where the contract provides for successive performances but is indefinite in duration it is valid for a reasonable time but unless otherwise agreed may be terminated at any time by either party." The indefinite time period was valid until a time-limitation was posted, which is now what Disney has done.

Actually it is precisely the opposite scenario: The contract is explicit in stating "non-expiring". That's the key.

Believe it or not, that was never the case. Check your photos. If you actually have one that says what you think it says, you'd be the first.

I have seen mugs that state that they are "refillable for life" right on the mug itself. If yours says this, I would use them. Friends have also told me that they were under the impression that the mugs were good for life, but when I checked with Disney, I was told that has not been true for a while.
