We are headed to the Pop century May 5,2005 when we were there last December we all bought refillable mugs. My question is do they let you buy a sticker or something so you can reuse the mugs or do we have to get new mugs this trip. I know you can do this at blizzard beach but I wasnt sure about the resorts.

you need new mugs... the mugs clearly indicate they are only for the length of stay during the trip in which they were purchased... no stickers like at the water park (unfortunately!)...

Definitely get new mugs. While you may see others at the resort use old or (gasp) other resort mugs, this is not permitted by Disney.

Disney now has a strict policy in place that if they catch you trying to reuse a mug. There is a coded chip located in the plastic of the mug itself that will alert the security mug patrol. Rumor has it that they will take you in a special colored golf cart and drive you under MK in the Ulitidoors and take you to a room called the SWEAT BOX! It has no windows or airconditioning and is sound proof so fellow guests can't hear you scream. You will be interviewed and some form of punishment will be handed out. Pray that it's light and over quickly! In some cases Mr. Eisner has came in and conducted the interviews himself. In fact this was his idea because he lost out on some of his yearly bonus due to mug abuse. There is no sticker to buy so be carefull if you choose to reuse the mug. You have been warned and if you or any member of your team is caught, the DIS Boards will deny any involvement or knowledge of your exsistance. This message will self destruct in 30 seconds! :p

:rotfl: Too funny. But I think I'm understanding that the OP wants to pay to re-use the mug. I don't think I've seen that asked before. It looks like Coby421 wants to recycle and save some plastic, not rip off Eisner/Iger's bonus. Cheers.:drinking1

Yeah, I know but I figured I might as well have some fun with a very touchy subject around here. Just a little humor to lighten the mood.

And I for one appreciate that. I just found it different/refreshing that someone was willing to pay to re-use an old mug rather than buying a new one or just using the old one.

I don't know if I'd be willing to give up 1/3 of my valuable suitcase realestate to a plastic item I use everyday at home. No. No. No! That space is dedicated to NEW Disney purchases, including, probably, new mugs with new designs :)

I don't understand why you would want to pack the old mugs and take them down there if you were going to essentially pay for them again by buying a sticker. I'd save my self some room and leave the old mugs at home.

We have our old BB mug that we carry with us to the water parks and get the new day sticker put on the mug. But they don't do this with the resort mugs. I don't think they have a way to sticker the mug for various lengths of time. The water parks are good for certain days of the week.

I would love to see the mugs sold for about $4.00 and then every day of your stay you pay $1.00 for a sticker for that day. If for some reason you don't need to use it on some of your days there you just don't buy a sticker. I think this kind of system would work. The mug itself could have some sort of expiration date on it. After that date you would have to buy a new mug and start over again.

When we were at Pop in November, there were no stickers on the mugs or stickers that we had to pay for. There was also no cast members monitoring the beverage area. The few times I saw a CM in that area was to refill the items for coffee and wipe down the counters. That was it. Actually, I have never seen cm's monitoring that area in any of the resorts I have stayed at. I may be the minority (and no flaming here), but if I return to the same resort I already have a mug for, I bring my old one with me. I have asked numerous times to numberous CM's (including manager's) regarding this and was told "no problem as long as it is from that resort." I have a collection of these mugs, which I'm looking at right now, that very good money was spent for them. I do not use a mug from the WL at the Polynesian or anything like that, but will reuse a mug at the WL if I am staying at the WL. Again, I have asked many times and have been told the same thing over and over again. Whether a person decides to reuse a mug at the same resort they have stayed at in the past is up to that person. If I have to pay $2.50 for a bottle of water that I would pay $0.99 anywhere else, I think there should not be a problem reusing a $12 mug.

the only reason I was looking to buy a sticker rather than a mug is because we have a limited amount of cupboard space and way too many mugs. We buy 4 every trip they add up after a while. Thanks for all your replys.

If you went to a fast-food place that offers free refills, would it be OK to go back to that same place, say, one year later, walk in and refill the same cup from the previous visit because you paid for it back then?

Because that's what you are saying. If you purchase a refillable cup, mug, boot, sock someplace, it is OK to return to that place later and continue to refill.

Prices rise on drinks because of people like you. If you can't afford to buy a new $12 mug on each visit, maybe Disney is not the place you should be vacationing.

Wow that was a snotty reply...honestly the person can do whatever they want and you really wouldn't be able to change their mind or stop them, so why be rude? :confused3

That's not very nice! :sad2: Actually, somewhat arrogant.
