Returning The Gift Bag To The Gifter

I've never had anyone ask for their gift bag back and I've never returned one to someone. I have reused them on occasion and know that I have gotten some given to me that were recycled. No problem, it's good for the environment. :thumbsup2

I have no use for a bunch of cookie tins and they take up too much space so I toss those out. If that means I don't get anymore cookies in the future that's no problem, I really don't want them in the first place. I accept them graciously, thank the cookie giver and will tell them how much I enjoy their treats, but truthfully they rarely get eaten.

We always keep them and just reuse them. I've never given a gift bag or tin back to the person who gave it to me.

We had an office "Secret Santa" once. We had to give 3 small gifts during the week. I put candies in a small gift bag to give to a coworker. The next day, I got a gift in the exact same bag. I figured out my "Santa" pretty quickly. She was mortified, but I told her it is great to recycle the bags. It was pretty funny.

I never return the stuff.

However, my grandmother asks for the bags back and insists she gets the bows back too. Ridiculous.

the only gift container i would consider returning would be a canning jar. but that's probably because i also can so i know how much those suckers cost:rotfl:

as a kid i remember rotating cookie tins in the family. the ones mom sent to the relatives with cookies in one christmas would be the one we got cookies back in the next (and the same with the tin they had sent to us). that stopped with the advent of pringles potato chips-mom and the aunts figured out they were ideal for shipping cookies, so they saved them throughout the year and after sending cookies at christmas they were socialy acceptable to toss.
