Does anyone know what the situation is regarding refunds?

I bought hubby a gift from Woolies website that was delivered to the house at the end of November. As it was too heavy for me to move I had the delivery man put it in the garage and I covered it up so hubby wouldn't see it. When I gave it to him yesterday it is scratched and slightly damaged.

Will I be able to take it back to a store and get a refund???? I don't know what to do as obviously the website no longer works so there is no phone number I can ring. :confused3 As it is heavy I don't want to take it to the store if they are not able to refund me.

To be honest Claire I think you will struggle to get a refund even though you are entitled to one, I think you will just be added to the list of creditors.

If I were you I would see if you can get a telephone number for your local store and give them a call to see what they say.

Good luck. :goodvibes

can't help sorry but we've got a toy that is broken too so i'm interested in this too

I don't post on here often but I bought my dd some jeans from there last week and at the till there was a sign saying no refunds only exchanges and tbh there was hardly anything left in the store then!
Liz

Sorry Claire but they have a no refund policy in the stores now :confused3

Yes I saw the signs up in there on Monday too, no refunds just exchanges, not sure what you are meant to exchange with though as they only had bare shelves left.

Is there anyway that you could get the item fixed? French polisher maybe?? obviously I don't know what the gift is but maybe that's wortha go? Or go to the manufacturer and see if they can help bearing in mind the sitiation with Woolworths?

Thanks everyone. I kinda guessed they wouldn't be offering refunds. :headache:

Oh well, I guess hubby will have to make do with his new football table with a great big scratch down the side.

Just asked my dd who works in woolies- no refunds just exchanges given

I think you would have been outside 28days anyway:confused3

Yes probably but I have never had problems exchanging christmas presents when over the 28 days anywhere else previously, especially when damaged/faulty.

If you paid by CC and it is over £100 you may be able claim through them for the damage.

Claire ;)

Oh Claire, what a shame-i remembered when we spoke that you had got Lee this for Christmas+now you have found out it's damaged :headache: .
It's true,my friend is the manageress of our Woolies store and there are no refunds what-so-ever only exchanges. One of Emily's toys did'nt work, but we were lucky to exchange it as they had one left of the same toy.x.

Unfortunately I think you'd be out of luck as usually companies say you need to report damage caused in transit within a certain timeframe. Hopefully the damage can be fixed somehow.

It wasn't damaged in transit, I always check the packaging before I sign for anything. It would have been damaged before it was packaged up.

I will give my CC company a call on Monday but I don't hold out much hope that they will be able do anything.

fingers crossed for you, let us know how you get on!
