So, we had such a wonderful time in October we are going back again. Only problem is that since both dh and I work full time and go to school full time the only time our schedule permits is the weekend of July 4th. I know we must be insane to even think about it. I am sure there is a thread about it but I couldn't find it. Can someone point me there or give me advice on what to expect. We are going to be there Friday thru Tuesday. Just booked my hotel and I am so excited already.

I am going the same weekend, so I will be insane right along with you. I don't believe there is a specific thread about the 4th weekend. Just primetime summer threads that are stickies on top ( I'm on my phone so can't link). Have fun, as someone who has done WDW over Christmas, my only suggestion is not to fight the things you have no control of and go with the flow and have a game plan!

We were there last year and plan to be there this year - you're not crazy - most APs are blocked and I think most non locals think it'll be too busy/want to spend the weekend at home with friends/family. Get there early *30 min prior to park opening* and collect FPs for use later in the day, take a mid day break/nap. The 1st few hours of each of our days last year *7/3-6* were quiet/low crowds - the only kinda crazy time was the evening of the 4th - but it still wasn't too bad.

Thank you. It sounds alot like our trip in October. It was Gay Days and one of the weekends for Halloween Time. It was great in the mornings but got busy in the afternoons. I am just wondering now about the weather. UGH...humidity. We are from the desert. It will be around 115 that time of year here...but we don't have humidity. Kinda dreading that.

Humid in California? I guess I am used to East coast humid because when I was in LA last summer it was quite pleasant in comparison to what I am used to.

My brood of 5 will have covered 3 national parks and 1800 miles of road warriorship-before we get to DL for the 4th...here is to surviving the road trip before the crowd over the 4th!

Um - you're welcome but I never said it was busy in the afternoons *just that the mornings were super nice* ~ they may have been *the evenings other than the 4th weren't* we just needed a nap/break cause we'd been up early *2 MMs at 7am, the other 2 days had 8am openings* and we wanted to stay late for evening entertainment *fireworks, WOC & Fantasmic!*

Weather ~ it was quite cool in the mornings and evening and we napped during the afternoon - as a PP said there's very little humidity, S CA weather is gererally beautiful.

Yeah sorry us dry desert people can't cope...lol. Or at least this one can't. I have forgotten how to sweat!:rotfl:

Having grown up in California and now living in a real desert... yes, California is humid and icky (particularly in Sep/Oct when we used to visit).

See I think I have the same problem. I grew up in the midwest. Then we moved to the desert. So now any time I go home or anywhere that is not the desert for that matter, I feel like I am going to MELT. But, I KNOW Disney is worth it so I will just have to do it...lol.

For me I grew I up in SoCal until I was 28, then lived in the midwest for 5 years. And now Colorado which is super dry.

In my entire life I never noticed it being humid in California a single time. I think the cooler temperatures just make the moderate humidity less noticeable.

Now in Ohio (or heaven forbid Houston or Florida) I seem to always notice the humidity...
