Return to the Scene of the Crime: The Lurkyloos’ First Anniversary at WDW! New VIDEO!

Oh, and thanks for making me ravenous! I just finished the dinner dishes and gave myself a cookie (I made some for Valentine's day)...and now I'm hungry all over again!!

Any time! Just wait til you see all the rest of the free desserts....

I really enjoyed reading the last trip report, so I'm in on this one. It's interesting to hear that LAX to MCO only takes 5 hours, since Seattle to Orlando seems to take forever going through Dallas or Chicago (usually 4 1/2 hours to Chicago/Dallas, and another 2 1/2 to Orlando from there. There's a couple of nonstops from Seattle to Orlando (which apparently take about 5 1/2 hours) but they're a lot more expensive than the 1-stop flights. As nice as WDW is, it's just a long way to go from here, and between long flights (mostly on MD-80s too) and layovers, it just seems to take forever to get there, especially when Disneyland is a couple of hours away by air from here.

I hear ya! One thing I’ve noticed, though, is that Seattle flights to the East Coast always seem to be cheaper than LAX flights....

yay! more Disney with "Mr. & Mrs. Hayward"! haha

Yessssss! It’s in print, now, so I guess we have to keep it, right?

yippee it's started!!! I love your detail shots at Wilderness Lodge. Hungry now too after seeing the I ap food.

Thanks! DH is good about getting the details – he even suggests pix fot the trip reports now!

Yay trippie! And yay Wilderness Lodge! Will loves GCH so much, I'm determined to take him here someday - it's nice to see all the pictures! Ready for more when you are... :rolleyes1

Oh yeah, he’d love WL too then! :thumbsup2

:Fellow anti- frutarian here! Fruit for dessert???? HECK Noooooo, give me some chocolate and caramel, and pleeeeaaaase don't ruin it by putting fruit in it!!!

Right on! The worst is insidious lurking fruit, like when you cut into a perfectly good piece of cake and discover a layer of fruit inside – boooo!

Awe Patrick is so sweet!! He should give John a call sometime.just sayin:rolleyes1 It is the little things like that, that will keep you together FOEVA! Great job at making the first day exciting!! So so sorry you had to endure the powerless car :) Happy Valentines day!

Thanks! Happy V-day to you too! And thank you for pretending that the first day was exciting!

Can't wait to hear more, especially all of the freebies.

You’re a woman after my own heart! :rotfl:

Since the Universe of Energy was closed, the airport was just trying to keep you busy! ;)

Tee hee! You may have something there.... :lmao:

Yay!! I wondered where you've been hanging out at Lurkyloo! More, More, More!!

Most days you can find me proffering unsolicited opinions on the DIS Weddings & Honeymoons board! :rotfl2:

YAY! You started your TR!!!

Looked like the honey moon was over as far as your room situation.

:rotfl: Woe to the entitled anniversary-celebrator who over-expects and under-appreciates.....

i loved your wedding report and i'm in for the haul on this one! i've always wanted to get married in epcot and so glad to see someone who has. looking forward to this report!

Glad to have you along. Watch out – I might convince you to have a vow renewal! :upsidedow

Hooray, I found your new thread! We did basically the same thing on our August trip - 4 nights WL, 3 nights BC. I love, love Beach Club. I plan to sneak over there on our March trip for cheeseburgers.
Your room view doesn't look too marvelous, but your portabello soup does. It's about 12 degrees here and I want a giant tub of smoky mushroom soup to climb in. That sounds good right now.

Oooh! It’s raining here, and a giant tub of smoky mushroom soup to climb in sounds marvelous! I’ll bet there’s a recipe in one of my Disney cookbooks... though I’ll need a calculator to increase it to tub size....

Yippee!! I'm so glad you started your report.

One free dessert down many more to come!?

Oh yes.... in fact, I think I may even have figured out the secret to where you can and can't get free desserts.... ;)

YAY!! Can't wait to ready more about the trip and see all of your pics!!

I'm in. I enjoyed reading your last TR so I'm on board again for this one.

Yep, yep, yep... I am here!!! :goodvibes

Whee! I'm in :)

Yay! I'm wicked excited for this TR!

I'm in!
I enjoyed reading your last TR. :)

Thanks guys ‘n’ gals! Once again, it’s taking me about 2 1/2 hours to write up each day, so I’m going to try splitting them into parts...

Yippee! It's started!

Did you end up liking the Wilderness Lodge Rooms? I didn't want to stay there at all, but my DH insisted that he wanted to try it out for our honeymoon and it has been our favorite resort ever since!

P.S. Artist's Point is delicous!

Hooray its here! I've been following your trip via your iPhone updates and I'm excited to see your report has finally started! I feel like a stalker now, I'm really not! :rotfl:

Yes, I was OK with the rooms. I still think they're too dark, but they are very nice, so I can't complain... Well, I *can* but I shouldn't! :rotfl:

No need to feel like a stalker - I'm the one with the sick need to document my every waking moment in real time! :lmao: Thanks for following along!

Our first full day at Walt Disney World was full of plans with friends, which was a new experience for us cuz we’re used to being the only people we know in Florida! Jennifaerie and Rob, whom we’d enjoyed stalking on their honeymoon in September, were in town for one day following their Disney cruise. And Nathan & Jensey, who shot our wedding and did an amazing “just married” shoot with Jennifaerie & Rob, were going to join the four of us at Animal Kingdom.

Unfortunately, we woke up an hour earlier than we needed to because I’d set my alarm clock wrong when I did the time change. And when you’re already getting up way earlier than you’re used to on the West Coast, this is a huge bummer. Fortunately, we survived. And we got to Animal Kingdom just after rope drop.

OK, troops – Nerd up!!!

Free desserts…? Anyone…? Anyone….?

Pretty!

While we waited for everyone to arrive, we knocked out some of our favorite rides. We rode Everest twice and then hit the Safari, which was so much fun that we rode it a second time (this would later come back to haunt us…).

On the first trip, we ran into a group of frisky Ankole Cattle, one of which charged right at our vehicle!

Trust me, he was reeeeeally frisky!

“I KEEEEEEL you!”
IMG_9518.jpg

“Wrong jeep - my bad!”
IMG_9519-1.jpg

“Yeah…. I don’t really know that guy…”
IMG_9520.jpg

We also saw several other animals a lot closer than we ever had before.

"What’re YOU lookin’ at?!”

Then something went horribly wrong and our group was called on to chase down a band of marauding poachers, which lead us through these deadly hot geysers!

IMG_9531.jpg

Somehow we managed to save the day without ever laying eyes on said marauding poachers and were dumped off at a loading dock in the middle of the jungle.

IMG_9538.jpg

There’s this really pretty little area on the way back to the front of the ride that I’d somehow never noticed before...

Up Next: Day 2, Part 2 – Hope ya like pix of the Safari, cuz we rode it THREE more times!

“I KEEEEEEL you!”

:rotfl: We say that all the time!

I can't believe you managed to get good (recognizable, non-blurry) pictures of the Safari. There were too many bumps and big fat heads in my way when I went :confused3

And really! Taking the tourists on a wild goose chase for poachers?? I don't recall signing that release.

Yay you are back! Thank you for going to Disney three times in one year. We have had a pretty constant flow of TRs to enjoy because of it :thumbsup2

Love that shot of the lounging gorilla by the way! Did you guys make your hats again like you did for your honeymoon? Very cute!

No need to feel like a stalker - I'm the one with the sick need to document my every waking moment in real time! :lmao: Thanks for following along!

and you converted me to a blogger..

but at least you had people reading and commenting..unlike me who just had people asking me "why are you posting pictures of you driving into Disney and food you ate???!!!"

We also poked around in the gift shop a bit before we went back to our room. It was a really nice evening just getting to be together. In the weeks leading up to the trip we’d been working long hours at our jobs and hardly seemed to see each other. This was our first chance in a long time to spend time together, and even DH mentioned how nice it was. And then he gave me a red envelope labeled “Note #1” that had a retro-looking romance coupon in it entitling me to some “TLC”… I wondered if there were more such coupons to come…

Aw! Romance Coupons!! Way to go Mr Lurkyloo! :rotfl:

Ooohh! too bad on the Kia Rio! i think my dh would have taken the sweaty man smell car over a Kia! :lmao: No power windows!?!? Do they even still make those???

On to AK!! Love the hat! :thumbsup2

Didn't realise you had a TR over here Carrie, glad I found it by accident! I love the Wilderness Lodge, the rooms are a little dark but its such a romantic resort. Can't wait to read more about your anniversary trip....

Hi, Carrie! I just found this trip report and was so excited! I loved reading your wedding TR. It was such a beautiful wedding! Your Root photos are amazing as well! Can't wait for the next update :)

Yay, I found you. I love your trip reports. Sometimes better than actually being there.

I had no idea they still made crank windows.

Now on with the show...............

Yeehaw, you're back!! I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. And to think I just happened upon this on the TR board. Next time you have to send up the bat signal. Or the lurkyloo signal. Or something! :rotfl:

popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn::

So, I'm pretty sure this was unintended, but, the photo sequence makes it look like Patrick shot that gorilla. If that WAS intended then I bow to you. Seriously BOW DOWN!

And thanks for my fix. It was getting pretty bad for awhile there. I was getting the Lurkyloo withdrawal shakes. Not pretty. Not pretty at all.

Ok I am subscribing to this because your trip reports rock. I LOVE your hat!!!!! That is the most awesome hat ever. I hope it got you free desserts all over.

Also, when were you in the Wilderness Lodge? I wonder if it was the same time I was there??!! You should have stalked my wedding. :rotfl:

just wanted to say I am enjoying this report as I have all your others! Keep it up.

Loved the pics.
I love the safari.

Good, cuz there are about 3,247 more safari pictures coming up in the rest of Day 2!:lmao:

I can't believe you managed to get good (recognizable, non-blurry) pictures of the Safari. There were too many bumps and big fat heads in my way when I went

I dunno how DH does it, because you're right: the ride is so shaky it's impossible to hold the camera still!

Yay you are back! Thank you for going to Disney three times in one year. We have had a pretty constant flow of TRs to enjoy because of it :thumbsup2

Love that shot of the lounging gorilla by the way! Did you guys make your hats again like you did for your honeymoon? Very cute!

Yes! DH made them at the direction of someone who is definitely not Stacy London or Clinton Kelly. :rotfl: I couldn't help it - if we were gonna score free desserts as a pair of non-newlyweds, I knew I had to pull out all the stops!

Perfect matching T-shirt to your "free desserts" hat! :thumbsup2 Did you make that yourself? :goodvibes

Oh yes... see "pull out all the stops," above. I've also designed one that says "I got married at Walt Disney World and all I got was this lousy husband" but DH won't let me wear it.... :cutie:

and you converted me to a blogger..

but at least you had people reading and commenting..unlike me who just had people asking me "why are you posting pictures of you driving into Disney and food you ate???!!!"

Those people are obviously clueless. Is there a link to your blog in your signature? It might get you a higher class of reader! :snooty: :rotfl:

Ooohh! too bad on the Kia Rio! i think my dh would have taken the sweaty man smell car over a Kia! :lmao: No power windows!?!? Do they even still make those???

Seriously! I didn't think so either.... :confused3

Didn't realise you had a TR over here Carrie, glad I found it by accident! I love the Wilderness Lodge, the rooms are a little dark but its such a romantic resort. Can't wait to read more about your anniversary trip....

I'm so glad you found me! :goodvibes And I agree - WL is very romantic. We would have gotten married there if DH's mom had been an only child.... :rotfl2:

Hi, Carrie! I just found this trip report and was so excited! I loved reading your wedding TR. It was such a beautiful wedding! Your Root photos are amazing as well! Can't wait for the next update :)

Thanks for the sweet comment! You are in for a treat - I have some Root photos coming up in the Day 2 report!

Yay, I found you. I love your trip reports. Sometimes better than actually being there.

:cloud9: Wow - that is high praise - thanks! Glad you found my report....

Yeehaw, you're back!! I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. And to think I just happened upon this on the TR board. Next time you have to send up the bat signal. Or the lurkyloo signal. Or something!

Yes, but what would it be shaped like? A Mickey Crispy Treat, perhaps? :)

So, I'm pretty sure this was unintended, but, the photo sequence makes it look like Patrick shot that gorilla. If that WAS intended then I bow to you. Seriously BOW DOWN!

Bow, baby, bow! :lmao: That Patrick - what a card!

:rotfl:

OMG - I did stalk your wedding - it's just that we were always three steps behind or ahead of you! First we heard from a Friendship Boat captain that your wedding had been moved inside (I know... how did he know? ). Then we went by UK Lower *before* you got there and pumped the event guide for info. When she told us you'd been moved to Wonders of Life but would be able to come out for the fireworks, I was so relieved. I almost blogged a really crummy iPhone pic of your DP setup (which was, uh, not setup) but then I thought I shouldn't scoop your story. :goodvibes

Can't wait to read all about your wedding! popcorn::
