Day 4 dawns sunny but the weather man says much cooler weather. We don long sleeve tee's over which we put short sleeve tees (all the rage right now, doncha know, Skylar infroms us). Over that we all wear a sweat shirts. The girls and Mike wear Jeans and I wear my lined yoga pants.
We are comfortable and happy as we make our way to the bus to the Animal Kingdom. And here let me just go off topic for a moment to discuss what became a favorite topic for our family: Are we the only ones who watch the morning news and weather?
Now that might be an exaggeration to be sure but we would over and over again on the trip see tons of people who were dressed in a fashion sure to make them miserable! This day at the AK, when the weatherman had predicted highs in the low 60's we saw many many kids dressed in short sleeve tees, capris or shorts and sandals, justifiably whining about how cold they were. And the next day when the temperatures climbed (as called for )into the high 70's we saw kids drenched in sweat when they were wearing jeans and thick sweatshirts.
It seemed to Mike that many people simply dressed based on the weather the day before! Not that we are judgmental or anything (ahem) but we did have some good family bonding over the shall we say lack of weather smarts that some people seemed to wallow in.
Anyway, our day at the AK was lovely. In fact the cool weather seemed ideal for this park. I have been on the Safari ride in much warmer weather and saw almost no animals. But this time we saw every creature imaginable. It was just awesome. We went on the Safari and then hupped all the way to Dinosaur, but the trek was worth it. It was very busy at the park by early afternoon, but by hitting the main attractions early we waited in no lines.
Again, because we just don't enjoy line waiting, we ate lunch at 11:00. Because we had dinner plans at Ohana, we didn't really want the meat heavy experiences of where we had originally thought of going Tusker house or FlameTree.
So while we did not know much about it, we decided on Pizzafari. Well, we really liked it. We shared 3 pizzas and one Ceasar salad. We also got two pieced of chocolate cake and a carrot cake. We could have had another desert on the dining plan, but we would have felt sick if we had done that.
Pizzafarri was so warm and bright with the sun shining in, it was really pleasant. And the bathrooms being right there, made it easy to send the girls in by themselves since we could see them go in and out. It was pleasant and relaxing for lunch. When we got up to leave at 12:00 the place was getting croweded and we were happy to have eaten early.
We then went to Fights of Wonder which was all of us felt was our favorite show. We then enjoyed just walking around the park with no agenda. We took our time, talked to CM's, took beautiful picutres at the lookouts and just had a marevlous time!
Around 3:00 we headed back to the hotel. The girls rested and we read the newspaper. I had not read the paper in days and it felt strange to think about the real world!
At 4:50, we strolled over to Ohana. We checked in for our 5:00 reservation and then waited, and waited. Two families who checked in after us got called. Okay this was getting annoying. I went up to the desk and asked what was up. No one could say. We would be soon said the guy who then lost eye contact with me. Um, ...NO. You need to take care of this now. I asked to speak to a manager. This immediately got me action and the seater "suddenly" found an open table.
The meal was yummy. The girls even ate everything! Sophie loved the shrimp. They asked me if there were any french fries. I said no. They were not upset but our waiter heard and the next thing you know he brought them a huge plate of fries to share!
We finsihed up and then headed over to the MK. Wow I love the monorail. It is just sooooo easy. I would never stay at a hotel without one again.
We went over and did the Big Thunder Mounatain, the Haunted Mansion, Buzz (again) and then went to Toon town so the girls could go on the Barnstormer all by themselves, which they loved. At that point huge crowds were forming for the evening parade still 45 minutes away. We avoided having to weave through the crowds by taking the train back to the entrance. No one really talks about it, but for this purpose the train is great!
We were back at the hotel in time to see the Electric Water Parade and the girls were in pj's and ready for bed when we stepped out to see the fireworrks again and then right to sleep. Another great day!
