Return only on Magical Express??

We are renting a car and spending some time at the beach prior to our WDW vacation. We want to return the call and use ME for the return trip to the Airport. When I called I was told we didn't need any tags for the luggage or anything. Don't they give you ME tickets??? We've used it for years and I seem to remember having to have them.

I am assuming that you are going to keep the car to get to your resort, correct?? then, you will return the car at some point. IF you want to use DME for just your return trip to MCO, that's fine. You can just make the reservation when you check in at your WDW resort. Then, they will leave your return details in your room the day before you check out. You will need this letter to get on the bus..it is your 'voucher' for your group.
Or...you can drop everyone off at the resort, with the bags, and then drive back to MCO. You can return the car at the airport, and take DME back to the resort. But, that has to be booked in advance. And that works only if you aren't going to need the car once you get to your resort.

1. Yes. Make your Magical Express reservation as soon as convenient after you check in+ but the deadline is the morning of the day before check out day. You will get that letter the morning of the day before check out day.

2. Yes only with selected airlines* during selected hours. The hours for homebound baggage check in at resorts are approximately 5 AM to 1 PM but you must complete that at least 3 hours before your flight time. Yellow DME tags are not used going home; remove them from your baggage by checkout.

+ Final resort for split stays. For split stays with a single final night you may need to report to that last resort the morning of its check in day to reserve DME.
* Airtran, Alaska, American, Delta/Northwest, Jet Blue, Southwest, United/Continental, US Airways.

Even for people who reserve way in advance and use DME both ways, there are no luggage tags for the trip home. If you are able to use Resort Airline Check-in (that is, if you're flying on a "participating airline" and if your flight doesn't leave before about 8:30-ish a.m.), they will tag your bags with the official airline tags (the ones with the 3-letter airport code, etc.) ... there is no such thing as DME tags for the ride home.

On the day before your departure day, you'll receive a DME letter on your door knob or under your door. THIS will be your voucher to board the DME bus on your departure day.
