We will be at epcot on Saturday June 4th. We have reservations at 6 for dinner at the Coral Reef but I'm rethinking that. By dinner time we'll be done with rides and probably be wandering the showcase. I'm thinking maybe we should switch to some place in the showcase rather than backtrack.

We have already dined in previous years at: Nine Dragons, Marrakech, Rose and crown, and Akershus.

Want to do something new, but don't care for family style.

So, should I switch or not? If so, where?

ETA- it's just hubby and I, 25th anniversary.

If you have not had a meal at CR I woudl keep it. It is one of those places that it is nce to have dined thee at least one time.

If you want to change, we like R&C. I know that some folks don't think it is the best variety, but it really is a family favorite.

We usually do Coral Reef for lunch bc of the same reason you just stated. We spend the afternoon/evening in World Showcase and its just easier for us to eat something there. We have eaten at Akershus (breakfast though), Biergarten, & Teppen Edo. Both Teppen Edo and Biergarten are a lot of fun...At Biergarten we had an early lunch ADR so I don't know if it was just a case of everything wasn't out yet or what but I had trouble finding something to eat there. But the atmosphere was amazing! The only thing I will say is you are sitting with other people at your table, but I didn't mind that bc its always fun to meet new people, lol. Teppen Edo is also a lot of fun if you keep in mind that its disneyfied hibachi. The first time we ate there my oldest kid was disappointed. I guess he was expecting the traditional hibachi with a disney flair, lol. The 2nd time we ate there he had more fun bc he wasn't expecting anything great and he was actually the 1 that wanted to eat there again. I think he just likes the fast that they cook in front of you and doesn't care if its traditional hibachi or disneyfied hibachi, lol. On our next trip we plan to throw Rose and Crown and Via Napoli into the group of places we have tried. I have heard wonderful things about Via Napoli and my whole family just LOVES pizza so that should be fun. Anyways I think you will be backtracking to get to the reservation at Coral Reef and a lot of people don't realize how much walking is involved in Epcot. Epcot is very very spacious so you need to do things in somewhat of an order so you aren't walking all over the place and killing your feet, lol

I agree with you on the backtracking. For that reason, we would consider CR for lunch, but not dinner. Nine Dragons & Biergarten are the only two WS restaurants we wouldn't choose to return to. Monsieur Paul would be my first choice. We also like Chefs, if you don't want to spend that much. San Angel Inn has an amazing atmosphere & the food is pretty good. I wouldn't choose TE, unless you don't have a similar restaurant near you. Really any of the other WS restaurants are some of the best non-signature restaurants on property.

I love Coral Reef, but the backtracking does take time. I'd suggest Les Chefs de France. Their food is delicious and it's a great atmosphere. Cute French waiters are a bonus, too! :-)

I would cancel as we would for sure be in the world then and I woudn't backtrack. If it was only my husband and I we would choose LeCellier.

I agree with the others. Find a place, ANY place, in WS to eat. Unlike some of the PPs, we detest just about everything about Coral Reef, from the woefully sub par service to the poorly preferred meals, to the noise and the kids running around.

We've had really good meals at other restaurants. M. Paul's would be my choice if you want a signature dinner. But we also enjoy La Hacienda, Biergarten, Tutto Italia, Spice Road Table, Tokyo Dining, and Les Chefs.

Am I the only one who would not mind backtracking for dinner?

I wouldn't in general, but my feet are always REALLY tired after a day in Epcot and I'd be afraid I'd poop out and cut my day short rather than return trek back to the back of WS. Also, there's so much good food in WS that you don't have to do all the walking to get a great meal.

I do like Coral Reef, so I wouldn't steer someone away from that choice. If you're in WS and: have tougher feet that I do; have more energy than I do; have a couple more things to do still in the FW area; haven't yet visited the wonderful Seas area; don't like any of the WS food choices (?); have a FP to use in FW; AND/OR just have a strong desire to try Coral Reef, then I think it's worth the walk.

LOL! I am a slug most of the time, and I love WS restaurants. I just figured that if the OP has a reason for choosing CR, and I am ambivalent about it usually...our meals have been hit and miss, I woudl not chuck it just because of the walk. I poop out is I have a second glass of wine, so that can happen fo me no matter where I am! LOL!

My reason was I love seafood. Lol. But I know that we will be done and will have moved on to the WS and backtracking sounds like a bad idea.

At the moment I'm leaning Chefs based on the current menu.

I would definitely cancel. Backtracking is no fun!

If you want really good French food, I would recommend Monsieur Paul.

We always enjoy Coral Reef, so I do think it's worth trying. As for the backtracking, that can be a bit of a drag. What about moving the ADR to lunch (timed with when you plan to end your FW touring) and then make your way over to WS.

We will be at epcot on Saturday June 4th.

We will also be at Epcot on June 4th and celebrating our 30th anniversary... Congrats to the two of you.

As for backtracking, I'm really not one to speak. We are backtracking and have an ADR at Blue Zoo (At the Dolphin) for 5:30 and then heading back to enjoy Illuminations. But with that said, I don't blame you for wanting to stay in the World Showcase and not walk over to Coral Reef. Besides CR, some of my personal favorites are Chefs de France, Tokyo Dining, San Angel Inn, Via Napoli and Monsieur Paul is a really good signature restaurant (bit pricey).

We really enjoyed Chefs in Franxe this past Thanksgiving. The bread!!!!

Via Napoli is also great. I loved the White Sangria.

ETA: I also enjoy San Angel. My husband does not, so we would have to eat elsewhere for or anniversary. But the ambiance is wonderful for a date.

We have never eaten at Coral Reef so cannot comment if you should change based on food. But based on location, I would. But I really love dining in World Showcase.

You could also jump over to the Yachtsman at YC or the new restaurant at BW (can't remember the name). Easy walk over and re-enter trough IG. I'd probably try France, either of the two there are not bad. Personally I wouldn't mind the backtrack but we've never eaten at CR, I've been diving in the tank and waved at everyone in there. Isn't there a sea food place at either Swan or Dolphin?

On my most recent trip we ate at the new Moroccan restaurant (spice road table) on a whim. Table was easy to get for 8:15 and patio had perfect unobstructed view of illuminations right in time for dessert. I thought it was a good choice and there were lots of empty tables. And I'm not an adventurous eater. And it has full menu.

We always try to eat at Coral Reef. So, you won't be disappointed if you keep the reservation. The food is great, service even better and the inside is beautiful. We also love the restaurant in Italy. Don't think you could go wrong with eigher
