Our little boy recently turned 4 so now we have to pay for him. We will be going to several restaurants in December when we go. Does anyone know if you can bring food into the buffet style restaurants (Ohana, Tusker House etc.) for our boy to eat, because there is no way I'm gonna pay $14 and up for him to eat a little bit of food. All the adults will be eating from the buffet.

If the child is at the table in a buffet restaurant and is 3 years old or older, you'll pay the going child price for them no matter what they eat - even if you bring food in from outside (which I cannot tell you if it is allowed or not, although I have seen a post from an adult who was not permitted to bring counter service food into Garden Grill). They aren't going to be able to police your table and make sure the person not paying doesn't eat anything from the buffet, so they just charge everybody.

In short, if you take your child to a buffet or family style restaurant, you'll need to pay for them.

If you are staying onsite, you might want to look into the DDP if you want to do a lot of buffets.

As the PP said, anyone 3 and older will be charged at buffets or family-style meals, whether they barely eat or fill several plates. My DD8 barely eats, but we know we are paying for the experience and make the choice to eat at those restaurants.

We find that buffets work well for our DD - she probably eats the child's price worth of fruit and enjoys the experience.

You might want to avoid buffets/family style meals because you will have to pay for him whether he eats or not.

many of the buffets are also character meals. you are paying for the entertainment

As everyone said, you will pay whether he eats anything or not.

Sorry that is just the way it is.

My friend tried to do this last time at Ohana. She brought her 13yr old with her when she met us for dinner. I kept telling her that she would pay and she said I was just being "dramatic". That was until the server kept telling her she was unable to not charge her for her daughter. After a 20min "nice arguement" my friend lost. (obviously)

If they are sitting at the table they are charged.
