Restrictions on Developer Points

Hello all.....

If I have, say, 10 developer points to use at SSR.... but I want to reserve one night (@ SSR) that costs 15 points, can I use 5 points from a different contract to book that night, or are there restrictions on developer points that they have to be used independent of other points?

Also... can the SSR developer points be used for THV? ...I know booking one of these might be a longshot - but I thought it would be worth a try...

I'd like to know the answer too. I assume you can use regular points in addition to the DP's to book a nite.

I don't know for sure, so call MS to ask. I would, however, guess that you can not mix developers points and your points for any one night of a reservation, just like you can not mix points from two different memberships without doing a transfer. As developers points can't do transfers, you are probably out of luck. But again, be sure to call Member Services for the definitive answer.

When we were "killing off" the last of our developer points we booked our June trip with the last of those & regular points. It was not a problem at all that one night was dev pts & regular points

When I used my DP's I used them all plus some of my regular points for a reservation so yes it can be done.

Agreed - you can mix Dev Pts and regular points. We just did so on our Dec. trip. When I called for the ressie I wasn't certain that could be done but it was no problem.

Newbie here. I also have 10 developer points left over, which is not enough to book another night. Do I understand correctly that the ONLY way to get any use of these points is to have someone transfer some of their regular (not developer) points to me and have me make their reservation for them?

I used a few of my regular points to add to my DP's. My regular points are in my bank now as well.

We have a similar issue - we have about 8 DPs left, we are using the rest for our trip in January. Because we bought AKV just this past November, we cannot use the regular points until AKV opens. We can book something using the rest of the DPs for after May (when AKV opens), but cannot USE them until after May.

So in all, we loose these 8 points because of when we want to go and when they expire.

Is is possible to transfer the DPs to someone else to use? Or maybe I can rent them out?

Regarding using the points at the new THV's-I just wanted to add that I asked MS if they can be used here and the cm told me no but then I asked to speak with a supervisor to confirm(because she had already given me incorrect info) and the supervisor said that yes, they can be used at THV's.

DPs can be rented, and combined with regular points, but not transferred. So if you're in the position of not having your first real points yet until the resort opens, then you're pretty much stuck and going to lose those points unless someone else were to transfer a few of their existing points to you and you make the reservation for them. I'm new, but learning fast.
