Restraunts in parks as opposed to resorts...which are better?

I am asking because I am just now realizing how much time will be spent in transit from the parks to our resort to change and back in transit to get to the different resorts...would it make more sense to make ADR's for in park restaurants?

I just don't want to waste time sitting on a bus or a boat for long periods...i may be understanding the perks of the Deluxe resorts now...

You are right--it can be a pain to travel to resorts for dinner, and, at least in my opinion, the better restaurants tend to be at resorts, particularly deluxes.

The good thing is that that there are usually more options to get to deluxe resort restaurants. For example, on the resort monorail loop there are many great dining options at the CR, the Poly, and the GF. If you take a bus from your resort to the Magic Kingdom, it then only takes a few minutes to get to any of these restaurants.

The top restaurants in the resorts are worlds better than those in the parks, but they are worth it. I never worry too much about the travel time, as we are not "park warriors." We go back to our resort every afternoon anyway to take a break and swim in the pool. Thus, getting changed and traveling to another resort to eat is not a big deal (especially as we always have a car and can drive from resort to resort).

The restaurants at the resorts are generally better than in the parks. We like to take a break from the parks now and then anyway. Then we can go back feeling a little more refreshed.

Since you are going in the summer (if I'm reading your ticker correctly), then you will need down time. You will not survive all day in the parks in that heat. You'll want to swim and relax too. The parks will be open later so can hit a park in the AM, go back to swim and freshen up, you can then have dinner, and then hit a park after.

Yep we will be there at the end of August, which I know is a very hot time in Florida...thanks all for the advice...I'm ever so slightly obsessive/compulsive about...well everything, but I want my honeymoon to be great. (which it will be whether we eat at pricey restaurants or McDonald's everyday!!!) It's good to know that monorail goes to all the resorts I have ADR's in...we can go to whichever park we want to in the morning, go back to POFQ, get pretty and go back to MK to catch the monorail...that makes sense! It's pretty easy to get caught up in the planning with this sort of thing!

The only restaurants in the parks comparable to the restaurants at the deluxe resorts are Coral Reef, Chefs de France and Brown Derby.

We prefer the resort restaurants, however Epcot does have several restaurants that we enjoy as well. (Le Cellier, Alfredos, Rose and Crown, etc.well I guess you get the picture - most of the Epcot restaurants). Oh, and don't forget the DTD restaurants.

Here's what we did and it worked out great.
We don't park hop and we didn't want to waste much time traveling either.
On our MK days, we either ate in the MK or at a resort on the monorail. You can throw Wilderness lodge in here too as it's a short boat ride.
On our Epcot days, we ate in World Showcase. You could eat at an Epcot area resort too.
On our MGM day, we ate at MGM.
On our Animal Kingdom day, We ate at Boma. AK closes at 5 and we just went right over to a 6:20 reservation at the AKL.
When we ate at a signiture place, we kept a change of clothes in a locker at the park in question just in case we ended up not going back to the resort first.

In general, the meals in the same general class range are about the same in the parks as the resort. Character meals are about the same quality at CP as they are at CM or 1900. The other skillet meals and such are about the same too.
The big difference is that there really are only a couple genuine signiture places in the parks. There are many at the resorts. And there are more places I would classify as really nice places (that Disney doesn't classify as signiture) in the resorts than in the parks.

Another fan of the resort restaurants here. We only have 1 in park must do and that is Mama Melorse. All our other favorites are at resorts.

This is exactly how we do it too. Our dinners revolved around what park we were going to be in that day.

I would stick to the ones at monorail resorts. The only restaurant experience I regret was going to Boma. The food was great, but it took forever and a day to get back to our resort using Disney transportation. With two small children, it just wasn't worth it.
