Restless Leg Syndrome - A Tip

I just returned from a sleep disorder clinic - my first time. My restless legs (and arms now too) have been taking over my life. I don't sleep more than 2-3 hours every night and I was about ready to blow my head off.

The doc I saw was excellent. Told me RLS patients are by far, the most distressed of all his patients. He gave me samples of a drug that he said usually works wonders, and said he wishes more people would seek out sleep clinics and not try and live with it.

I'll let you know how it works.

It's Mirapex. 0.125 mg tablets. He said it's normally used for Parkinson's Disease - but at much higher doses. He said since he's been using it for RLS, he hasn't seen any adverse side effects from anyone.

Good luck! My DH goes through spurts of RLS and it makes me crazy! It makes us all crabby!

Hmmm I will have to keep this in mind. I haven't officially been diagnoised but when I am stressed it's at it's worst. Drives my sister nuts LOL. Seriously. She thinks I do it on purpose and I don't :/

Many times in the day my legs just start moving for no reason... I use to think maybe they were hurting from arthritis, but now I think they just do it to do it. When I am in bed watching tv or sitting for long periods of time.

Also, RLS has been identified as one of the side effects of an iron deficiency. My son was having trouble sleeping, complaining of his legs being sore, etc. He had soem blood tests done and we discovered he had low iron. I started him on an iron supplement and the RLS disappeared. Just FYI.

A friend thought I might have low iron b/c I love the chew ice. Apparently for whatever reason it indicates low iron. Everytime I've been tested the irons been fine... so I don't know. After May 1st I plan to find a family doctor and look into it more.
