Is it actually necessary to make reservations for meals?

We'll be there over Halloween, which I know is busy, but honestly I hate being tied to reservations, especially with two kids. I was going to try for an Inventions brunch (either the Halloween one or on the Sunday after Halloween) but do we need to book anything else? We have no plans to do a character meal and are fine with eating at slightly off peak times.

I'm a mad over planner and make reservations for all our evening or main meals of the day. Mostly to be on the safe side. Nothing worse than turing up to a resturant to find it's fully booked for the next two hours.

If your care free then you can wing it, but you can just pop into City Hall or the resturant you want at any time and book a table for later that day.

If I were you I would book the Inventions Brunch.

I always make reservations, its part of the excitement for us!

I have never made reservations in advance, we usually decide on the day where to eat and then ok it either at City hall or the concierge at the hotel.

I think it just comes down to the individual.

To be honest, if its a popular restaurant book before hand as its busy over Halloween and not all places inside the packs are open late. Nothing worse than planning to eat somewhere and finding it shut :-/

I've booked the Inventions brunch on the 3rd and we've decided to wing it for the rest.

I booked so carefully for our trip to WDW when we went, spending ages making reservations, only to find that we cancelled half of them while we were there and we ended up getting some amazingly good short notice ones, like O'Hana for breakfast. I'm not counting on that, but I've booked the only one we really care about.

In case anyone wondered, we ended up booking 2 meals while we were there (Agrabah cafe and Walt's). We also walked up for two proper meals. The rest of the time we ate counter service anyway.
