I am new at this so please forgive me if this has been asked a lot. We are going to Disney in September and we will be arriving there on a Saturday. We plan on going to Downtown Disney for that afternoon. I am having a hard time deciding on what restaurant to eat at on that Saturday night. We are on the dining plan and it's me, my DH, DS13 and DN10. I even thought about Mickey's Backyard BBQ but I have read a lot of bad reviews on it. Thanks for your suggestions.

T-Rex just opened this year and is supposed to be good. We are going there on 6.12.09 the night before our cruise.

We personally had a great meal/experience at Ragland Road. We will more than likely be trying to go again this Sept. :woohoo:

I have read about T-Rex and it looks pretty neat. What I have read is that it is not on the Disney Dining plan. I would like to stick with restaurants that are on the plan if possible. I also like Fulton's I have ate there before for breakfast back in 1998.

I haven't been to T-Rex, but it looks like fun. For counter service, I recommend Earl of Sandwich.

Does it have to be in d'twn dis? I'm asking becaues if this is the families first trip you may want to do something more 'disneyish'. Check out this link on some first night ideas -- http://allears.net/pl/fnight.htm

I would recommend going to a monorail resort and start things off right! O'hanas is awesome and one of my DS13 and DD10's favorites. Then after (or before) dinner take a ride around on the monorail and get phyched for your park day in the morning.

For table service locations my family and I have been to the Rainforest Cafe and Earl of Sandwich. For counter service locations we have been to Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express. Personally our favorite place to eat out of all those locations is Earl of Sandwich, so we always plan to eat there at least two different times while we are at WDW.

Earl of Sandwich was packed when we were there in early March, so we ate at Wolfgang Puck Express. It was the best CS meal we ate all week!

the best tables service restaurant in DTD on the DDP in my opinion. Wolfgang Puck's Express and Earl of Sandwich are really good counter service locations. I like House of Blues (I'm a fellow alum with Isaac Tigrett, but I've yet to meet hime and he's yet to send me check) a lot but it is not on the DDP.

You mentioned that you had considered Mickey's Backyard Barbecue but were dissuaded by bad reviews. Have you considered Hoop-Dee Doo Revue? It's a dinner show that requires two credits like MBB, but the show and food are much better.

I recently reviewed Portobello on my site and I found that it has improved immensely. The reason is that the owners, Levy Restaurants out of Chicago, recently renovated the space and revamped the menu. The food was tweaked by Tony Mantuano, who is the executive chef at Spiaggia in Chicago, which is one of the Obama's favorite restaurants. I'm really impressed with the quality of the food and service now at Portobello (and I'm hoping they'll make the same changes to Fulton's Crab House and Wolfgang Puck, which they also own).
I also had a good pre-St. Patrick's Day meal at Raglan Road, hosted by chef Kevin Dundon to show off his new cookbook on family cooking. The food at Raglan is not your typical Irish stews and such. It's much more stylized and creative.
Either would be a good choice.

We were just at TRex the last week in March for Spring Break. There is a comet storm every 20 minutes. It's like rainforest cafe for kids. My 10 year old loved it. The kid's drink was served in a stretched plastic glass. It was an icee I think. The food was okay. For dessert he had the Chocolate Tar Pit. It was chocolate pudding with oreo cookies crumbled around the edge and dinosaur gummies stuck into it. It was about 2 cups of pudding. The expensive part is that there is a build a bear in the gift shop. All dinosaurs of course with everything from sun glasses to underwear.

We have our fingers crossed. We were just looking for something different and I knew this was new.

On another subject but still DTD related has anyone heard anything about some new balloon ride at DTD? What is it exactly?

I'll recommend you steer well clear of Planet Hollywood.....TERRIBLE.

Raglan Road and WPE are the 2 restaraunts i'm looking forward to still trying out there.

Fulton's is not on the dining plan...My husband and I love Raglan Road.:goodvibes

Raglan Road, Wolfgang Puck, Earl of Sandwich are all great places to eat on the Dining Plan. I have also enjoyed the Rainforest Cafe in the past and wish it was on the dining plan. We will definitely eat at Wolfgang Puck's again. It was excellent.

I really liked the Italian restaraunt when I was there last year. GREAT chicken cesar salad...The sevice was just OK.

I had my mother in law and (at the time) toddler twins so they put us outside. :lmao: My kids are REALLY well behaved in public(key words right?) so that go to me a little. One of our servers was great. She was personable and friendly. The other...well...not so much. He was annoyed by the fact that we had children with us or something:confused3. I don't know.

But my salad was great and my mother in law had some pasta with sausage and peppers(don't remember the name, but it's a common Italian meal)

I've never had the Earl Of Sandwhich at DTD, but we have one in Tampa and I LOVE IT. There is something for everyone there and the sandwhiches are SOOOOOOO good!

Has anyone tried Cap'n Jacks? We are considering that or Raglan Road? For those of you that have tried both, which do you prefer and why? Thanks
