Restaurants at the Portofino

Hi, I'm going to be at the Portofino in October and am interested in eating at the hotel one night.

Can anyone recommend a restaurant? I know there is Bice (I live in NY, and there is one here too), but not sure about the others.

Also, I saw on loews website a photo of a "wine picnic." does anyone know anything about this?

For your one night dinner at Portofino I would recommend Mama Dellas. It is wonderful.

Bice, is disgusting, there is no other word for it.

We just go back from the Portofino. Hopefully, I will start posting our trip report this week.

We didn't do Bice because it just struck me as not being kid friendly. Mamma Della's is excellent. It is good, hearty traditional italian food. Trattoria del Porto is also excellent. It is right next to Mamma Della's. The atmosphere and food are definitely different - less traditional (though I believe both restaurants share the same kitchen). We ate at both and loved them.

Also, you may want to try Sal's Market Deli, which is also in the harbor right next to Mamma Della's. Sals has pizzas, paninni and sandwiches. The food there was excellent. It is less formal than the other restaurants. But still nice for lunch or a quick dinner.

Don't forget to save room for Gelateria, which is also in the harbor area. Great shakes and icecream.

I would make a reservation for Mamma Della's. You can call 30 days in advance (407) 503-1000.

The only Portofino restaurant we have gone to is the Trattoria del Porto. It was great! They offer both a la carte and a buffet. We had the buffet, the food was delicious and make sure you save room for the dessert bar...mmm, mmm good!

when we went in July I was able to book in the morning for dinner that night. We liked Mama Della's but thought that Trattoria was a better deal for the money.

Thanks for the reply. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at RPR and was hoping that they'd have one at PBH.
