Hi all! I'm looking for restaurant suggestions for lunch on I5 around the Bakersfield area but not too far out of our way. Somewhere family friendly. Thank you!
Bravo Farms has decent barbeque (counter service) and outdoor play areas for kids (old west theme). Harris Ranch is a very good table service restaurant, we stop there whenever time permits.
Bakersfield is not off I5- it's closer to the 99. That said, if you're looking for something in the lower portion of the central valley off I5, Willow Ranch BBQ in Buttonwillow is pretty good.
I also second Nonsuch's recommendation of Bravo Farms which is a bit farther north in Kettleman City. Food is pretty good (though maybe a little pricey) and lots of neat themed play area for the kids to burn off some steam
We always stop at Harris Ranch on the way to DL. It's 2 hours into our trip (give or take a bit depending on traffic leaving the Bay Area). My DD loves it because it's spacious and the food was delish. This is more of a tradition as this was a constant stop when I went to DL as a kid as well. Their bathrooms are clean, gas is there, service is great, kids menu has a lot of options, hubby and I love the steak, etc...
A new Black Bear Diner just opened down by the base of the grapevine too.
We usually stop in Kettleman City for In N Out and Starbucks. Or at Buttonwillow for Starbucks. I just stopped at Kettleman City on my way home Saturday and it was crazy crowded for that Bravo Farms place. It was nuts!
