for those paying OOP who want to eat reasonably well on a relatively tight budget.

My dad claims it's Earl of Sandwich and nothing else even comes close.

What would your nomination be?

I think the best value in a moderate table service ($20 entrees) would be Kona Cafe. That might be above the level of "tight budget" though.

For table service I think Biergarten is an outstanding value. Go for a late lunch (cheaper than dinner) and you're good for the rest of the day! And the food is very tasty!

We have never been to Trail's End buffet, but I have heard it's excellent and very reasonably priced.

I agree with this too. There are not to many table service places that I would pay out of pocket for, but Kona Cafe is a don't miss for us. The food, location and service can't be beat.

I know it is a bit more expensive, but I think Ohana is the best value. For about $35, I feel like you're robbing them!

Although my first thought was Earl of Sandwich, I will cast a vote for Wolfgang Puck Express. More expensive that EOS but also closer to a sit down meal. Our last trip to WDW was 2009- so things may have changed but we had a delicious meal at WPE

We really like Earl of Sandwich and the prices are reasonable. I do find the portions to be a little small though. My DH would need 2 sandwiches for a meal. For a sit down, maybe The Plaza at MK, or splitting a pizza at Via Napoli in Epcot

It's possible to share a meal at many of the a la carte restaurants that are 1 TS on DDP. The portions tend to be smaller at signature restaurants, other than the dinner shows. Some of the CS restaurants also have meals large enough to share. Sharing can make any meal very affordable. Whether or not family style/buffet meals are a good value depends on how much you eat. They're an extremely poor value for me.

I don't know if they still offer it, but a take-out pizza at Trail's End @ Fort Wilderness used to be a really cheap meal for a family. There's picnic tables to eat outside.

Sunshine food fair in the land - they have 'real food' as opposed to sandwiches. And I LOVE Tangerine - the combo plates are also real meals.

The Plaza Restaurant[nice prices, great ice cream!!]
Trail's End Buffet [I have never been but, my parents raved about this place's breakfast& have been to all the other buffets as well]
Earl of Sandwich [delish!!!]
Olivia's Cafe @ OKW [amazing, inexpensive breakfast]

I agree with EofS! Love that place. The sides are really inexpensive as well. We have gone without being on the DDP and used our AAA card for a 15% discount.

Sunshine Seasons in the Land Pavillion in EPCOT has the best value for dollar of any restaurant in WDW. No atmosphere, but really good food at really good prices.

Runner up is Wolfgang Puck Expess, the one on the Marketplace side of DTD.

Liberty Tree Tavern lunch menu. Real food for not so bad prices.

Breakfast buffets are real values if you are comfortable eating that heavily at the beginning of the day. You can skip lunch easily, and then have a lighter dinner.

Sushine Food Fair, or nearly any counter service in the WS is a good value for Disney anyway.

Another option is to go offsite for lunches (Publix does a nice submarine sandwich) that you carry into the parks (Disney parks). You'll see any number of people bringing in their own lunches/snacks/drinks. Just avoid glass, and sharp knives and you'll be ok.

We aren't fans of Earl of Sandwich or Puck's Express since they've changed things and raised the prices. What was once a tasty meal and true value is no longer the case.

EoS was my first thought. Runners-up are WPE and Sunshine Seasons.

I should heve listed SS too! My daughter ordered a pork chop dinner here that was delicious for around $10. Really cant remember getting a better cooked pork chop anywhere. If you go at dinner time, most people have migrated to the World Showcase and Sunshine Seasons is relatively calm with lots of seating. There is such a wide variety here that there is something for everyone.
