Is there a restaurant (TS or CS) that others on this board go nuts over but when you try it, you are underwhelmed?

For me it is Chef Mickey's. I have tried it on 3 different occasions and the food was mediocre at best. A great atmosphere, service, or character interaction might make up for the food a little but I haven't found that to be the case either.

:confused3

I hope I don't get slamed for this, but the food could have been better at Le Cellier. The Cheddar Cheese soup was not what I was expecting - it was okay as well as my steak. I preferred Jiko's food much more, but we still may give Le Cellier one more try this year. The atmosphere and staff were exceptional here!

Crystal Palace. Wasn't impressed. A lot of people prefer it over Chef Mickey's. I don't know why.

1900 Park Fare. Again, not impressed.

We don't love any of the MK restaurants, with the exception of my love of the tuna salad at Columbia Harbour House. Sadly, for us, it's all about the cocktail with dinner... Something about being on vacation and a nice sit-down restaurant equals cocktails and a glass of wine.

Well since you are asking and not flaming.....we didn't care for Raglan Road (food was still frozen in the middle and service was lousy), Rose and Crown (couldn't get seated inside, server spilled fries all over us, got sick after eating the fish and chips), Kona (tried 2 seafood dishes and neither was good but I hear their steaks are good), or 'OHana (meat was dry and overcooked and the noise level was horrendous and our server basically ignored us, wouldn't even bring the wet cloths to clean up after the sticky wings even tho I asked twice).

We didn't care for The Plaza, worst food and service we've ever experienced or LeCellier, it just didn't live up to the hype.

Cinderella's Royal Table. My DD4 ate her (tiny) hot dog in about a minute. When we told the server she was still hungry, she told us she would not bring her any more food. We had the first table right by the door, which is the last one to meet the characters. By the time they got to us, they just wanted to be done. My DD8 tried to tell Mary Poppins something, and she walked away while she was speaking.

Cape May Cafe... Bleh. We had our rehearsal dinner there. It was like eating plates of slop and the staff were just completely indifferent to us and our crowd of 18 people.

Also, Akershus. Now I realise the appeal now is for the princesses but... Back in my non disser days we were in epcot on Christmas day. Thought it would be nice to try some nice food from different countries. Well the only place we could get a table was Akershus. It was awful. The food was horrendous. The staff ambivilent. Then during our wedding trip my best friend DD turned 4. So we tried to get Cindys but to no avail so Akershus it was. The food was again horrendous and the staff seemed even less interested than the last time. The princesses seemed rushed and businesslike. My friend's DD however thougt it was wonderful and that was all that mattered in the end.

Le Cellier and Chef Mickeys for me,

Le cellier was over priced, did not like the dingy atmosphere and was not that impress with the food.

Chef mickeys mainly because it made my girlfriend really ill and i don't think its anything special at all.

Kona!

Blah atmosphere, crowded restaurant, mediocre service. The food was good (I don't know, on a scale of 1-10, maybe a 6.5?) but nowhere near as good as other places that also had better atmospheres and service.

Overall, btw, I've never had a *bad* experience at a Disney restaurant. But Kona definitely did not live up to its reputation. I mean, it was better than Sci-Fi, but Sci-Fi exceeded its bad reputation, whereas Kona didn't come close to being as good as everyone says. By the way, if you think that's great sushi, you've obviously never *had* great sushi.

Ohana Breakfast. Can't understand the fascination with a meal of eggs, waffles, bread & juice.

Chef Mickeys...we've tried it 3 times, the food was bland and the selection was very small.
Coral Reef...nice atmosphere but the food has never impressed us.

Biergarten - the food was downright NASTY the last time we were there. It tasted like dishwater and soap. Gross.

Another vote for Le Cellier. I don't understand the hype and likely never will. It's an average steakhouse in a vacation destination filled with unique and exciting restaurants.

Because my family generally dislikes character meals, I resist the popular buffets like Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace. I know that many adults on these boards love eating with the characters, but my group lost interest when the youngest child turned about 10 or 11.

I do not think Le Cellier is bad but I won't jump through hoops to get a reservation there.

Tonga Toast is too sweet and too greasy for me.

O'hana's was awful. When they brought out that "raved about" bread pudding, I thought my grandson was gonna throw up it looked that gross. Maybe if I'd had a Lapu-Lapu first I might have thought it was ok, lol.

Definitely Chef Mickey's. We gave it another chance in March after years of avoiding it due to underwhelming food. It was still underwhelming.

We thought Le Cellier was just okay, not anything to rave over, much less make ADRs for months in advance.

I wasn't impressed with Fulton's Crab House either.
