I am looking for recommendations on a restaurant in DL or DCA that does not need a reservation. It would be a wednesday evening in late April (hopefully after spring breaks).

It's our anniversary, but we really want a relaxing trip where we don't have to be anywhere at a certain time. Also we will have our 5 year old in tow (we're dropping her off with Grandma and Grandpa for three days after we get back :love2: ).

We have had lots of luck deciding where we want to go, going to a phone and calling Disney Dining (there is a button on the phones in the parks) and asking what they have available in the next hour or so at specific restaurants. On Nov 10th (very busy) we booked a table for 14 at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen for 14 people only a hour before (they actually put us through to the restaurant to book our reservation directly because of the short notice). We did the ride we were in line for, walked over to DTD and had dinner. The service was amazing and we had a fabulous meal! :flower: There were people standing in line to get in and we just walked on in because we had a reservation. We have done this same thing at WDW and it worked well there too.

Most places don't even need a PS. However attendance is not like WDW and it's typically not a problem to call at lunch time for a dinner PS. I'd go ahead and wait until you get there and give it a shot if you decide at the time you want to. Otherwise there's lots of places to eat that don't need a PS.

The only place I can think of that you'd need a PS for at that time of the year is Blue Bayou. For a special dinner consider the Napa Rose, a little pricey, but for that once a year occaision, it's the best choice.

Thank you for the ideas. The only place I would consider making PS ahead of time is Blue Bayou, but it will be closed.

I think we'll probably just call an hour ahead of time and see what's open that we'll in the mood for. I had no idea you could do that!

My family and I are at Disneyland almost every weekend (I know, we're nuts), anywho, I have to admit and advise that I DON'T recommend Napa Rose. It's very expensive, and quite frankly it's not that great (to be honest). You'll receive very small portions for your $, and not the fantastic food you'd expect for the money! Please know, there are much better choices available to stretch your palate and dollar!

I'm a very picky eater, especially about my dinner! Please know I'm just trying to save you $ for something much better -and flavorful - (sorry to say). I take no pleasure in my review, I must be honest. I've dined in many wonderful restaurants in Beverly Hills and Malibu, as I'm a local, but Napa Rose in my estimation, is good for a great glass of wine - (but dinner - whoa -- way over-priced!).

I apologize to my critics, but I cannot endorse a restaurant that charges so much for so-so cuisine in microscopic portions. Again, to each his own, but my family, while comfortable, is still on a budget, and I will not throw money away! I will not feel guilty for having a "healthy appetite" and expect to be able to expect decent portions for the money I pay!

I know many of you are in the same situation, so I hope my review saves you some hard earned duckets!

So you know, I was raised in an "upper-middle class environment" and I'm used to a good "dining experience" so to speak. But honestly, my family found Storytellers buffet much more appealing than Napa Rose!

If you'd enjoy a nice glass of wine and perhaps a cheese plate, Napa Rose is great, otherwise, be prepared to pay through the nose (literally!!)....

Hope this helps those that are on a budget!

Good luck and enjoy Disney!

Best from a seasoned Disneyland visitor!!!!
