Restaurant suggestions

We are spending five days in Orlando with our kids (22,13,11) and looking for new restaurants to try. We are doing Universal this trip for the first time, having done Disney parks twice already, but staying two nights at Shades of Green. We've done Polynesian's restaurants and AK's Boma's in the past and loved them but wonder if we are missing other cool places. Our kids are pretty adventurous. Thanks for any suggestions.

Since the kiddos are adventurous, take them to Sanaa at AKL-Kidani. Delicious, unique foods such as the bread service appetizer (ask for all the sauces and extra bread), the slow-cooked in gravy entrée (you choose two items out of five to be served with basmati rice), or any of the tandoori oven meals (my personal favorite is the lamb). The prices are reasonable by Disney standards, and a bonus is that if you dine early in the evening, you'll be able to see animals out and about the grounds. If you're a wine drinker, their list is small but full of excellent choices, especially the Spier Pinotage which pairs well with the lamb.

Of course, you'll be close to 1900 PF which features a good character meal buffet at a decent price, and the character interaction there is second to none. You could even walk there, though I'll admit it's a bit of a haul--just over a mile since you have to trek through the Polynesian. However, that is a reasonably enjoyable walk if you're into family outings of such a nature. One other buffet I'd recommend (if you enjoy such things) is the Trail's End breakfast buffet. Getting there is the trick, but it's worthwhile for the best value going in the World. My favorite is the pulled pork eggs benedict, and they have sticky buns worth the calories, too, along with all your typical breakfast foods. They even have Mickey waffles. I've heard their dinner buffet is also fairly good though we've never tried it.
