My family (2 adults, 2 kids- 7 & 10 yrs old) will be staying at the Contemporary the week of Thanksgiving. This is out 1st trip to Disneyworld. Please let me know what you'd suggest for dinner reservations. I tried to make reservations at the 2 restaurants in the hotel but it looks like you cannot make them this far in advance.

We plan on renting a car so we can travel to the other hotels.

Any advice would be so helpful as it's a little overwhelming not knowing much about Disney!

Thank you!

You can make ADRs 180 days from your arrival day. Your day 180 has not arrived yet. You can figure out 180 days from your arrival day here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/pscalc/dispscalc.html

For restaurants, that is really going to depend on what your family wants, and to a lesser extent, your plans for each day.

There are sit down meals, quick service meals, signature restaurants, meals with characters, dinner shows, places in the parks or resorts, etc. I suggest looking at the menus here on the DIS or at allears.

Just to get started, some of our favorite places are:

MK
LTT lunch, CRT breakfast(TS)
Columbia Harbor House (CS)

Epcot
Via Napoli, Le Cellier, Biergarten (TS)
Sunshine Seasons, Tangierine Cafe (CS)

AK
Yak and Yeti, Tusker House (TS)
Yak and Yeti, Flame Tree BBQ (CS)

HS
Brown Derby (TS)
Starring Rolls (CS)

pixiedust: Welcome to the Disboards! Our family rents a car too and we like to travel to the other resorts for dinner reservations as well as eat at some of our favorites in the parks. We have enjoyed 'Ohanas at the Polynesian resort, Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Be our Guest in Magic Kingdom, Le Cellier at epcot, 50's Prime Time at Hollywood Studios would also be fun for your kids ages. We have done Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary and it was more of a great atmosphere than good food. We ate at the California Grill and loved it as well. Make sure to make your reservations at the 180 day because some will get booked quick, like Be Our Guest and Chef Mickeys. You can book the reservations online at 6am or call at 7 am. Many of the menus are available to look at also online.
I usually go to easywdw and see what days that website recommends will have the lowest crowds for any particular day at the parks then plan my reservations to be in or near the park I will be at in the evening! Hope this helps :)
